I helped run the Connecticut Film Industry Training Program last summer, and we made a movie as our final project. I wrote and produced it - it's called GAMERS ...
I co-produced a film called BEING MICHAEL MADSEN , and it's awesome! It stars Michael Madsen, Virginia Madsen, David Carradine, Daryl Hannah and Lacey Chabert. Check it out ...
I also associate produced a film called THE OTHER SIDE OF THE TRACKS last year. Here's the trailer ...
So anyway, I'm Marty. I'm also "The Beast," a nickname I got after I ate six servings of dinner one night at UConn. Since I'm really tall, the nickname stuck. It's since morphed into nicknames like Beastly, Beastie Boy, things like that. But Beast is the name I respond to. (It's a term of endearment, I promise.)
I went to film school at Florida State for two years, and then came right back home. I teach film classes at Quinnipiac University, and I also make independent films here in Connecticut.
I've produced three indies in the last couple years. I co-produced BEING MICHAEL MADSEN , I associate produced THE OTHER SIDE OF THE TRACKS , and I produced FOG WARNING . (And if you scroll back up the page, you can see trailers for all three of 'em.)
I'm doing some work right now - that film GAMERS you saw? I'm writing and producing another film as part of the same training program, a dark comedy called TIME'S UP. That's being edited now, and should be done this fall. Then, after that, I'm attached to co-produce a gothic horror fantasy adaptation of SNOW WHITE with my friend Alex (who directed that other film up there, THE OTHER SIDE OF THE TRACKS). And if all that wasn't enough, I'm also the Educational Director for the Connecticut Film Festival .
I'm also writing a feature film, a romantic comedy/drama called RISING STAR. Writing is a huge part of my life. I used to be a newspaper reporter before getting into movies, so I've been putting pen to paper (or hands to keyboard, I guess) for a long time.
Hmm, what else about me ... I'm a huge basketball fan; I love the UConn Huskies, Boston Celtics, and Connecticut Sun. I used to play in high school and college, and I try to play a little now. (Even though I seem to get hurt EVERY TIME I PLAY.) I love to travel, even though I haven't done very much of it lately. When I was younger, I used to go all over the country, sometimes on a day's notice, and it was a blast. I need to do more of that, I think. And I love dogs, especially pugs. Anything else ya wanna know, just ask.
