Originally from Louisiana, I started traveling the world at the age of 15, moving from Louisiana to New Delhi, India, where I attended the American International School. My art instructor, Dorothy Rahman, was a very strong influence in my life. It was at this point that my lifelong love of art & photography began. During my four years in India I photographed a wide variety of subjects; from village and city scenes to the Taj Mahal. Though just a teenager, I feel that I captured on film the character of the people, and unique beauty of the scenery and architecture of India.
Following graduation I traveled throughout India, Yugoslavia, and other European points, attended college at Franklin College, Lugano, Switzerland, for one year, and remained there for an additional year. After leaving Switzerland I returned to the U.S. and attended Windham College, Putney, Vermont, with a split Art/Language major. I traveled to East Africa in 1974 and was based out of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, at which time I went on various photographic adventures to several game preserves (Mikumi. Ngorongoro Crater, Arusha), and climbed Mount Kilimanjaro. I was lucky to get annual around-the-world trips, gratis, courtesy of the United Nations until I was 22. I also spent time in Colombia & Mexico, and toured Europe by BMW motorcycle.
In 1995 I moved to Peachtree City, GA, and in 2000 was given my first digital camera as a birthday present. This opened a new artistic world for me. As an art student in college, and an artist at heart, I had always been extremely creative, but was never satisfied with my technical ability. This first digital camera allowed me to finally discover the medium where my creative ideas, love of color, and new-found technical expertise could produce unique artistic images.
Creating my own realities ("Pursuit of Happiness In the Garden of Eden", "In a Dream"), or artistic manipulation of everyday objects ("Jewel Case Perspective", "Blue-Eyed Extrusion") are recurring themes that I find fascinating.
I began professionally pursuing photography in 2001, and have shown some of my photo art in the Atlanta area. I also frequently photograph up-and-coming fashion models, corporate and other events, and weddings, and thoroughly enjoy the interaction involved in these shoots.
My passion for art & photography is evident to most individuals that I meet, and I am continually encouraged that I have a unique outlook & style. It is my belief that God grants all of us the ability to be good at many things, but to be best at that which we love to do. Photographic art is that to me.
