About Me

Sorry guys no flashy pictures or any kind of gimmicks. I am a simple fellow and all. My name is Max Arias Jr. I was born in Jersey City, NJ on May of 1984. Im currently residing in Bayonne and have done so for most of my life. I am currently employed as a 6th Grade Language Arts Teacher in Jersey City, and I love it. My musical endeavors began upon my infatuation with the Beatles at the early age of 12 or so. After becoming very involved with their music, I decided I too wanted to fabricate on the guitar what they were producing. With no formal training, I picked up on tunes by ear and also with the help of tablature upon the retrieval of my first six string. Once I could play a few tunes, I ventured into the world of writing. Unfortunately, I was sounding much like the Beatles, so I decided I needed a change. That is when Jimi, SRV, and Cream took over as I shifted on focusing on lead blues guitar (which to some feel is easy to play, but I feel difficult to master). As I developed as a musician and guitarist, I started writing slowly in the acoustic genre, keeping to myself the quiet aspiration to fulfill my dream as a songwriter. In the meantime, I chased my dream of being a rockstar. I have had several stints with several bands as either frontman or lead guitarist(some lasting years, others lasting months); AfterFilth/Lower Class Riot, Last Call, Breakway, KP and the Special Eds, and Guido the Killer Pimp. I have had the chance of performing at some awesome places like Arlene's Grocery, The Knitting Factory, Lamours, and SPC Peacockpalloza 05 and 06. As my heart played as much as I could, each band ended for a variety of reasons. It was not until recently that I decided to venture out alone. With some formal classical training and with an ability to touch on almost all genres of music, I felt it was time I fulfill that singer/songwriter aspiration that fueled inside of me through the years. My writing grew from topics of social angst, bitterness, heartbreak to songs of deeper meaning, existential reproach, the conditions of our being, and yet again the pangs of the broken heart. My songs are simple Verse Chorus in format, but I rely heavily on arpeggios and augmented, suspended, and diminished chords.I love making music. Im not out to save anyone or myself. No fame or fortune. I am a very simple person. Im just looking for a way to stop searching for anwers. I dont want to look or know anymore. I want to accept things for the way they are while keeping my sanity. Im perfectly content with living life to the fullest with the people who matter. I invite you to take a listen into what goes on in my mind through my music, and I hope you leave taking with you at least some whimsical thought. I promise you will not regret it. To all my friends and family, I love you all. To my new friends, I wish you the best. To my enemies, God Bless and Godspeed, but do not dare utter negativity toward my direction or else I will make sure you feel it a thousand times worse.I am still unfinished with my CD entitled "The Road Ahead". It will be my first solo cd, and I hope the first of many. I hope to have it complete by Spring 2008. The songs touch on a variety of topics, some being escapism and of course infatuation along with the inevitable feeling of a broken heart. It is a solely acoustic effort with one guitar and one vocal. I have decided not to add any previous material written as they do not entirely reflect the individual I am now. I once again invite you to take a listen. I guarantee there will be something to coax your ear into wanting more. Thank you for sharing your time with me. Take care.
