King.... a male sovereign or monarch; a person or thing preeminent in its class. That word describes 22 year old Quincy Jerome King, alias “Q. Kingâ€, a hot upcoming talent deep in the bowels of Houston, Texas. On the horizon of his first mixtape titled “Vitamin G Vol. 1, Q. King stands poised to take the streets and world by storm.
Q. King was born in the heart of Houston’s southeast side, the same home to rappers such as Scarface, Lil Flip, and Lil KeKe. He later journeyed over to “Syrup City’s†southwest side where grit, grind, heartache and determination groomed one of the city’s best kept secrets into a lyrical phenomenon and production genius. Influenced by the likes of Tupac, Kanye West and Scarface , Q. King’s style is a melodic blend of clever wordplay and typical saucy southern beats. He describes his motivation and drive as filling a void that hip hop is missing. “People have become accustomed to some of the nonsense that we hear on radio, I’m not okay with it†states Q. He has become obsessed with spitting something positive and delivering his message of self expression and independence.
2004 was the year Q. King began his grind toward stardom. It was a year of loss. He lost his cousin and best friend to an unfortunate event courtesy of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. That incident left a bitter taste behind and he now has hopes of not only fulfilling his dreams, but the dreams and aspirations of both he and his fallen cousin. That same year caused Quincy, a talented high school quarterback and scholar student to mishandle opportunities of a college career and education. He eventually saw the light and gained a spot on Texas Southern University’s football team. He is now poised for a million dollar future that he has a firm grip on. He has a trusted team of brethren behind him in the mold of “ND†aka Natural Disasters, with Q as the 4 star general. Q foresees a bright future that is not only limited to grime of the rap game, he actually prefers production over penning lyrics.
“The game is so oversaturated with the absence of substance, I’m here to offer the fix with Vitamin G, the game needs it, whether “G†stands for God, grind or go get it. I got the fix.†States Q. Perhaps Vitamin G is exactly what the doctor ordered. Don’t go without your fix. Get your Vitamin G Vol. 1. Coming to a stereo near you soon!Courtesy of: Shawn Franklin of askbrandynshawn
