Daisuke Kurata

Drummer, Percussionist, Composer, ArrangerBorn in Shiga, Japan in 1970, Daisuke took an interest in music and began playing guitar at age 14 and drums at age 19. He started playing professionally in 1992 and performed and recorded with top jazz musicians in Japan.He decided to move to New York to further his jazz studies and career in 1999 and he studied with Joe Chambers, Junior Mance, Reggie Workman and Bobby Sanabria at the New School University.His diverse recording and performance experience includes work with Grady Tate, Benny Golson, Valery Ponomarev, Jimmy "Preacher" Robins, Joey Morant, Jay Thomas, Pete Yelin and the legendary tap dancer, David Gilmore, to name a few. He is a regular performer at many jazz clubs nationwide and on the international scene. He has toured around USA, Japan and Korea.He just released his first leader album "A Foreign Sky" (Featuring Allen Farnham on Piano, Dennis Irwin on Bass, Lance Murphy on Teneor Sax and Grady Tate on Vocal) from the Japanese label, CUG RECORDS, affiliated with Roving Spirits on June 21st 2006.He proudly endorses Latin Percussion Inc..
