DJ Franchise was born in Providence, RI and has been a lifelong resident of the state. He was raised in a Christian home and has been surrounded by music all his life. Both of his parents sang in gospel choirs and his father was a gospel radio disk jockey. Lowell graduated from Mt Pleasant High School and is currently pursuing his Bachelors Degree in Communications from the University of Rhode Island.He adopted a love for hip-hop, r&b and reggae music at a young age and was first introduced to djing by one of his best friends, the late Albert BJ Burney. At the age of 16 he bought his first Gemini turntable and a few months later his mother purchased him the second one. His first party was at Times Square Middle School where his younger brother arranged for him to be the guest dj. That party was the start of many more parties to come. He was an avid fan of wrestling and one night while watching a match with The Franchise (Shane Douglas) he decided he would assume the name DJ Franchise.He continues to dj for schools and colleges in the RI and MA areas. He was a club dj for 3 years in Hyannis, MA and has been the Stomp Fest Step Show dj for the past 3 years. He has opened for various artists such as Ne-yo, DJ Clue, Fabolous, Redman & Method Man, Ludacris and the Nappy Roots. He has made numerous mix tapes and has had the opportunity to work with guest hosts such as Bathgate and Grafh. It was at the suggestion of his brother that he started Team Franchise which consists of djs, producers and rappers.In August of 2005 Franchise along with his brother was given the opportunity to start their own hip-hop radio mix show. The show is entitled Showtime Sundays and was heard on Sunday nights on 1320am and 1320thedrive.com and 102.7fm. Artist such as Bobby Valentino, Chopper (Young City), DJ Khaled, DJ Juice, Paul Wall, Jae Mills, and others have been guests (via phone) of the show. After that Franchise moved on to a FM Boston station and most recently 90.3 in Rhode Island.Franchise continues to grind as he strives towards his goals of someday working with and being one of the best in the business.
