About Me

My nerdiness knows no bounds.
I am a student of Chinese Medicine, which basically amounts to me training to become a professional witch doctor who accepts health insurance. Constantly learning, memorizing ancient herbal formulas, writing papers and trying to find time to play my mandolin and explore my beloved Twin Cities, one happy hour at a time.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Pirates! Gypsies, ninjas, rockstars, upstarts, huge fuckin' nerds, mud wrestlers, hobos, flower children, dirty hippies, clean hippies, hippies-in-denial, iconoclasts, astronauts, robot wranglers, cowboys, sex kittens, hedonists, punkasses, sad little emo boys, strong angry women, metalheads, tattooed freaks, fashion whores, bookworms, b-boys, artists, vegans, blood-thirsty carnivores, alcoholics, adrenaline-junkies, graf writers, jazz geeks, sad loners, social butterflies, freedom-fighters, lazy stoners, merry-makers, traveling troubadores, street-corner prophets, misunderstood geniuses of all kinds. People who like to have a good time. People with opinions. People who will buy me dinner! (so hungry...)

.. You scored as Postmodernist. Postmodernism is the belief in complete open interpretation. You see the universe as a collection of information with varying ways of putting it together. There is no absolute truth for you; even the most hardened facts are open to interpretation. Meaning relies .. and even the language you use to describe things should be subject to analysis.

New baby

Ever since listening to Sister Suvi (an awesome band from Montreal), and of course The Acorn, I've been really developing an appreciation for the ukulele. It's an extremely versatile little instrument...

"It’s my life..."

I've decided to quit Surdyk's. Most people warned me that cashiers there only last about three months, and they're not lying. Of the seven new cashiers that started when I did, only me and Monica rema...

Well, Minneapolis...

I'm filling out all of my application materials for the AAAOM (American Academy of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine) school right now and I highly doubt there's any chance I won't be accepted. So thi...

Opportunity knocks...

My life is confusing. I’m a firm believer that karma/fate/God or whatever you want to call it has a way of providing you with what you need when you need it, and then whether you choose to take ...

"Out like a lamb" my foot.

The Equinox came and went with little of the bacchantic revelry that I would have hoped for, but it would have been hard to frolic barefoot through the 8 inches (or whatever, I haven’t watched t...

Save the Animals

After spending an entire morning on Wikipedia reading about critically endangered species (many of which I've never heard of), I started thinking about how I kind of regret not pursuing a major in ani...

Eat at my place this Saturday

Travis and I are hosting a potluck this Saturday to celebrate the fact that we are undergraduates no more -- officially. Tomorrow is the LAST DAY I have to go to Saint Kate's. I can't believe I'm real...

Post-Apocolyptic Visions on a -3 Degree Day

I am obsessed with ruins. Today, BoingBoing had a link to this great set of photos that someone posted on Flickr. These pictures were taken in an abandoned book depository in Detroit.Another one of my...

End-of-January Resolutions

It's been a long time since I just sat in front of my computer, with a beer and my mandolin, poking around on myspace and other websites when my fingers get too sore to press against the strings, just...
