About Me

Hi - My name is Geo. I was born in Minnesota but was raised in Canton, Ohio. My mom is full blooded Japanese and my dad, who left us when I was three, was Italian-American. I have a brother ,Tom, who is three years younger than me. I started playing guitar when I was twelve and at thirteen played bass for a band called Iron Cross with Bret Kuhnash (now in Friq and Fraq). When I was sixteen I taught myself to play piano and by the time I was nineteen I played keys and sang lead for a band called Voyager. In the late 80's I co-founded the metal band S.L. Easy with Bobby Hindmarsh. After that I joined the band Medalyon. We were an all original progressive metal band that would go on to open shows for Savatage, Aldo Nova and Bad Company. Then in the mid 90's I joined the Risk where I met Eric Brooke. With Eric and Trevor Meyer, we formed Eggplanet and went to L.A. and recorded with producer Keith Olsen (Sammy Hagar, Pat Benetar, the Grateful Dead - to name a few. Joe Walsh, Fleetwood Mac and Whitesnake to name a few more). Then through hosting various jam nights in the area I met fiddle player Jeff Snauffer. Jeff and I formed the band Hush and played for a couple years until he was tragically killed in a car accident in Aug 2003. I now play in the band Mr. Trick with Jaime Blattman on bass, Jeff Cseak on lead guitar (I played in the band Left of Center with Jeff in between Voyager and S.L. Easy) and Todd Whipkey on drums (this is my fifth band with Todd, having played in Voyager, Left of Center, S.L. Easy and the Country/Classic Rock band Diamond Hitch). My wife Rosey sings with us occasionally. Mr. Trick hosts jam nights every week where I like to play guitar, bass or occasionally the drums. I also play (besides guitar, bass, piano and drums) harmonica and banjo and mandolin. For a full schedule click on the Mr. Trick profile below and it'll take you right to our band's website.FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS on HBO - Congratulations for the Best Comedy Album Grammy!

Influences: First and foremost are the Beatles. They set the standards that we musicians live by today. Then the next most influential artists were the ones that inspired the Beatles - mainly Elvis, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, the Everly Brothers and Carl Perkins. Then the British Invasion: The Rolling Stones, The Hollies, The Zombies The Who and the Monkees. After that came metal: Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Alice Cooper, Kiss and Rush. And the guitarists: Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Van Halen, B.B. King. Not to mention Pink Floyd, Grand Funk Railroad, the Temptations, Cheap Trick, Judas Priest, AC/DC, the Eagles, Bad Company, Todd Rundgren, David Bowie, Fleetwood Mac, Prince, Bruce Springsteen, Michael Jackson, Billy Joel, Neil Young, Stevie Wonder, Motley Crue, Def Leppard, Smokey Robinson, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Queensryche, Dream Theater. Today I like Green Day, the Barenaked Ladies, All American Rejects, Los Lonely Boys, Maroon Five, The Killers, Matchbox 20, Fall Out Boy and Bowling for Soup (not the band, just bowling....for soup, and golfing for bananas and swimming for meat.) And my new favorite band - OK GO.My favorite books start with anything about the Beatles. Currently reading Beliefs That Changed the World, History of Western Civilization Vol. 1, Blackwater The Rise of the World’s Most Powerful Mercenary Army. Bush (and the people who think he’s the bee’s knees), conspiracy theories, consumerism, the FBI, the CIA, the FCC, the IRS, the NRA, and the RIAA for suing children and grandmothers for "illegally" downloading music because they’d rather we pay $20.00 for a CD with one good song and ten shitty ones. Anti-abortionists that murder pro-choicers, Paris Hilton, religious extremists, anti-religious extremists, election-time commercials and people who yell out Freebird at our gigs.
