Paul Hampson was born in Hamilton, Ontario at the height of Beatlemania.
Named after his mother’s favorite Beatle, (lucky for him she didn’t like Ringo!),
it was inevitable he was going to make his way into the music industryIn 1985 Paul got his first guitar and along with friend Eric Forrest (Voivod, E-Force)
He began to emulate his idols, Randy Rhoads, Joe Perry, Keith Richards.In 1988 Paul moved to Sudbury to study guitar with concert guitarist Philip Candelaria. Following a teachers strike he then moved to London where he received his degree in classical guitar from Western in 1994.Returning to Burlington he immediately joined the band Bionic, a progressive metal band
that recorded one ep entitled PARIn 1997 the band recruited vocalist Mercedes and renamed the band Serene. During this time they also doubled as an Alanis Morrisette tribute band called Ironic.In the summer of 1998 Paul moved down to Boston to perform and teach guitar. Upon his return to Canada he recorded his first full-length classical guitar cd ‘Through the Window’ with producer Carl Jennings (Freedom Train).In 2000, along with Serene vocalist Mercedes and guitarist Jesse Dawins, the band Jesters Mercy was formed. The band recorded two cds 2001 ‘Passing Time With Dreams’, and a follow up ep in 2003.In 2004 Paul cowrote and recorded on Gspot Tornados debut cd entitled ‘Hymns4Her’With the ability to play upwards of 40 instruments, Paul has become one of southern Ontario’s most sought after session musicians, playing with up to 8 bands simultaneously. Among them Jennifer Ashbee, Hatcher’s Apartment, Corduroy and Sugar Dali.Paul recently joined Canada's 1 Aerosmith tribute Mama Kin, playing shows throughout Canada and the Northern US.
