About Me

Iorana!
I mainly created this site to gain access to some other interesting pages on MySpace, to meet new people, and to have a place and blog where I can ramble, bragg, and bubble about everything that I'm interested in, and that doesn't fit on the website "Ask Dr. Mike" , about the actor Michael T. Weiss, that I maintain in my *other* net life.
I also have a home page by the name of "Road Trip" (named after an episode from the 4th season of the TV series 'The Pretender' that premiered just before we left), covering an extended family vacation that took us through parts of Canada, and through very large parts of the US, back in 2000.
In the mid 80ies I wiggled my bottom in a -thankfully- long forgotten break-dance film starring Lorenzo Lamas ;
In the early 90ies I've published two books about social behaviour in mid-19th century America (both long out of print) ;
In spring 2002 I appeared in the 6th season of German TV series "Bullyparade", wearing a pink bunny costume and wiggeling some of my body parts ;
And in early 2006 I became one of the many co-executive producers of Nick Love's film "Outlaw" starring Sean Bean and Bob Hoskins. Sean again proves that he still is Sheffield's hottest. Unfortunately also another entry in the 'Death By Cow List'.
"Outlaw" opened in the UK on March 9, 2007, and is available on DVD worldwide.
From October 3 to November 20, 2006 I've spent a lot of my time fascinated following the filming (mostly thanks to *someone* who had access to the set) of "Reservation Road"
starring Joaquin Phoenix (too good for words) as grieving Ethan Learner, who has lost his son in a hit-and-run.
Its production company Focus Feature still runs a production reel , with bits and pieces from "Reservation Road" and "Eastern Promises" (amongst others), that didn't made it into the released films.
In 2007 I contributed to the liner notes & biographies of the German DVD package of Sean Bean's series "Sharpe" / "Die Scharfschützen", released in November 2007, with an enhanced 2nd edition out since fall 2008. A 3 disc version of "Sharpe's Challenge" / "Das letzte Gefecht" is also out since then.
And ever since I first laid my eyes on Sean a very long way back, I gladly suffer from SBOCD (Sean Bean Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), and I have no wish to find healing.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Errol Flynn, writer J.R.R. Tolkien, Civil War general Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson, painter William Turner, poet William Shakespeare, over-all-genius Leonardo Da Vinci, and most definitely my mum's dad, who passed away when I was very young.

This 'n' That:

Michael T. Weiss appeared on Broadway for the first time in the world premiere of the play "Impressionism". Previews began on Feb 28, the show opened on March 24, and the last performance was on May 10.

On Oct 27, 2008 after 10 months of absence, Joaquin Phoenix appeared in public again, on stage in San Francisco's Davies Symphony Hall.
And there he dropped the bomb: When contacted by Extra to confirm Phoenix’s departure from film acting, his rep replied "that is what he told me."
I still hope this is just a mad joke or 'the frog' in his hair ... but "It's like greener pastures, you know what I mean?...Hopefully, I will emotionally impact you with that, as well", said Joaq on Nov 1, 2008 at the AFI.
Video clip (with sound): MC Joaquin Phoenix Butchers Rap Music ...
On Jan 16 he spoke about his upcoming Rap album:

Watch his *performance* at LAVO Nightclub in Las Vegas on YouTube. But beware!
March 11: Clips from the *gig* at the LIV night club in the Fontainebleau Miami Beach hotel, where he wrestles a heckler to the ground:

Joaquin Phoenix drama on stage from AP. Still beware!

Sean Bean's film Far North premiered at the Venice Film Festival in spring 2007. And Sean bares it all ....
I was able to see it at the Britspotting Festival in Berlin on April 14, 2008, and here is my report & review , and the write-up of the Q & A with Asif Kapadia afterwards.
Far North is out on DVD in several countries.

Two more projects with Sean will see the light of screens in 2009:
UKs TV Channel 4 "Red Riding" trilogy aired in March, and the long missing film "Ca$h" from Stephen Milburn Anderson will come to movie theatres later this year.
Sean recently filmed Percy Jackson (as Zeus) in Vancouver, and is currently in Germany, filming Black Death (as Ulric) since late April to mid-June.

Howdee folks - Viggo was off into the Wild Wild West again: "Appaloosa" premiered on Sep 5, 2008 at the Toronto Film Festival, and was released on Region 1 DVD in the US on January 13, 2009. To see the trailer and some photos, click on the poster:

"Two Lovers" had its world premiere on May 19, 2008 at the 61th Cannes Filmfestival (running in competition for the Palme d'Or), and its North American premiere at the Hamptons International Film Festival on Oct 16. No German release date so far
See six clips (all either in English with French subtitles, or dubbed in French) from "Two Lovers" here . And watch out for the new king of the dance floor in the Cannes trailer: The UK trailer is different: Too bad that this might be the last film we'll get to see with Joaq!

Canadian TV network CTV aired the episode of Joaq and Sol of 4Real's visit with the Yawanawa in the heart of the Amazon Rainforest as a special Christmas present for his Canadian fans in 2007. The full series now airs worldwide on the National Geographic Channel. More good news: A 2nd season is already in production.

No, these are no dress rehearsals of the new professors for the next Harry Potter film, but Viggo and Sean receiving their degrees from their respective Universities:
Viggo accepting it 26 years after he finished his studies on May 21, 2006 at the St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY

Sean receiving his honorary PhD degree on July 20, 2007 at the University of Sheffield in Yorkshire, UK

Watch some Hollywood stars making 'noise' for Amnesty International - including George Clooney and Joaquin Phoenix (watch out for the tapping shoes):

Also see Joaquin (very serious, but looking his usual gorgeous self) speaking about to End the Dafur Crisis and about the Missing women of Juárez and Ciudad . No shoes this time.
~~~
I love bears (but I might have mentioned that already), and I truely like Joaquin Phoenix (I might have mentioned this too), so what better than having both of them together:
Joaquin (and back) at YouWild.org
