Looking for friends in Austin, TX

About Me

Since moving to Austin from Pittsburgh in 2003, I have grown and changed in so many ways. My life isn’t perfect, but I’ve found my focus. I now know what I want to do with my time and the kind of woman I am seeking to share my future with. I grew up around PA and VA, and have really had to rely on mostly myself. I am not a fortunate son, in fact, much the opposite. Working hard, learning from many mistakes, and constantly challenging my reality for the purposes of self-improvement are philosophies I embrace and live by. Most people who meet me think I am introverted, shy, and much younger than I am. But you can’t judge a book by its cover, and my appearance is not completely accurate. I am introspective and love to listen. Occasionally, I’ll share a good story though, and I love to learn new things.
Your Dosha is Kapha
Calm and grounded, you are not prone to mood swings or anger.
However, once you do get angry, it takes a lot to cool you down.
You tend to think a little slower than most people, but your logic is astounding.
Overall, you very loyal and trustworthy. You're not scared of being who you really are.
With friends: You enjoy their company, but often listen more than talk
In love: You crave connection and affection. It's hard for you to be single.
To achieve more balance: Exercise vigorously (especially in the sun) and let go of attachments. What's Your Dosha?

My Interests

music, sci-fi, reading, movies, good conversation, gourmet cooking, chocolate, etc. I like just about anything but everything is better when done with someone.

I'd like to meet:

Friends mostly but wouldn't mind a date. Looking for someone that wants to hang out in person though. I don't chat online all that much, so I'd like someone local who wants to go to movies, concerts, parties, etc. I tend to get along better with women than guys for the most part. Probably because I'm not into sports or other stereotypical guy things. Anyway feel free to send me a message.

IM me here if I'm on. Change your name at the bottom of the box first though:

Or join the chat room:

Music:

Pretty much anything except country. Mosly Trip-Hop/elecronica/rap/hip-hop. In no particular order: Enon, Fiona Apple, Moloko, Tori Amos, Belly, Massive Attack, Esthero, Moby, Emiliana Torrini, Dido, Halou, Hooverphonic, Ladytron, Morcheeba, Smoke City, PJ Harvey, Portishead, Sia, Tricky, Wax Tailor, Zero 7, Pink, Bjork, Ms. John Soda, Garbage, Lovage, Poe, Alanis Morissette, Everything But The Girl, Beck, Ursula 1000, Gotan Project, Collide, Cocteau Twins, Venus Hum, The Cranberries, Supreme Beings Of Leisure...I could go on and on. I love music.

Movies:

Crappy sci-fi movies mostly. I'm pretty open, though. Romance movies have to be really good for me to sit through, but other than that I just love going to the movies.

Television:

Sci-Fi mostly. Lately: Battlestar Galactica, House. I'm not much of a TV watcher, though. I'd much rather have a good conversation with someone, and the TV is more background most of the time.

Books:

Vonnegut, Orson Scott Card, and too many others. I do read a lot, but I haven't gotten into a novel lately though.

Online IQ tests

What do you think of online IQ tests that only ask like 20 questions.  I know I have a higher than average IQ, but I've never taken a REAL IQ test.  If anyone knows of good ones let me know....
