“One of the greatest things in my musical life was moving from Salisbury, Maryland to the Washington, DC metropolitan area,†quotes Timothy Brown, recalling the moment that his musical career took a turn. Being joined with the likes of Cliff Jones and Jerry Vines, two of the area’s premiere promoters and producers, Timothy was then introduced to the world of professional singing and he has not looked back since.Timothy Brown was born in Salisbury, Maryland and basically was born in the church. Timothy has been singing since he was 2 years old. Being trained only by his father, he grew up in church and singing from an early age. Early in his singing career, he got the opportunity to sing behind the likes of Rev. Timothy Wright, Lashun Pace, Yolanda Adams and Darrius Brooks. He later relocated to Port Republic, Maryland in 1995 with his then-wife. In 1996, he was selected to sing background vocals for secular artist Ginuwine and was also an alternate vocalist for Aaliyah for the Budweiser Superfest Tour. Through connections with Jerry and Cliff, he later did studio engagements for Gladys Knight, Donna Summers, Tyrese, Gerald Levert, Jazz (from the group Dru Hill), Tank and many others. Timothy’s stint in the secular arena went well, but he felt an urgency to return to his heart and soul: gospel music. In 2000, he moved back to his hometown, Salisbury, Maryland and committed himself to the music ministry at his father’s church. Timothy is currently the Music Director for Victory Faith Worship Center in Fruitland, Maryland, where his father and mother, Bishop Matthew and Pastor Cora Brown, are the pastors. He has served in music ministry for several churches and with several gospel groups and continues to sing and write for countless others. He finally received the call of God to do his own solo project, and became vigorous in accomplishing the task.Timothy Brown’s style, delivery and versatility have made his voice signature and distinct amongst other gospel and secular singers. Several of his peers have marveled at his vocal styling and his musical ear. His vocal arrangement skills are noteworthy and have been called upon by several groups. He now adds writing to his varied list of talents and skills. His style touches several genres like Gospel, Jazz, R&B, Christian and Neo-Soul.Timothy has set a high goal and a high standard for himself and his music. The best is yet to come from this young man.
