-Plot twist movies or unique plots: Usual Suspects, Shawshank Redemption, Memento, Go, Sliding Doors, Snatch, Sixth Sense, Perfect Murder etc. Yes, Sliding Doors is a "chick flick," I'll admit. -"Foreign" i.e. w/ culture or cool settings to them: Bend It Like Beckham, Life is Beautiful, any Bourne movie, Thomas Crown Affair, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, etc. -"Thought-provoking": Contact, I Robot, Catch Me if You Can, Braveheart, The Island, etc.
