About Me

David Cronin's music has a distinctive American sound and a refreshingly eclectic style. Born in Newport, RI, Cronin displayed a natural talent in music at a very young age. After nearly 10 years of performing on the piano and saxophone, Cronin began writing short compositions for his fellow students at the Virginia's Governor School for the Arts in Norfolk, VA. After high school, Cronin was admitted to the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY, where he studied orchestration with Augusta Reed Thomas, and composition with Joseph Schwantner, Samuel Adler, Sydney Hodkinson, and David Liptak. After receiving his Bachelor's degree in Music Composition from the Eastman School, Cronin relocated to Boston, MA where he continued his composition studies with Lukas Foss and Charles Fussel at Boston University's College of Fine Arts. Currently residing in Boston, MA, Cronin has received a number of commissions, and his music has been performed throughout New England, New York, and Virginia. In 2000, Cronin launched the Mount Hood Recitals, a quarterly salon-style concert series that produced a number of intimate performances and enthralling world premieres.
