About Me

"We should do this every day of our lives. Number one is laugh. You should laugh every day. Number two is think. You should spend some time in thought. And number three is, you should have your emotions moved to tears, could be happiness or joy. But think about it. If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that's a full day. That's a heck of a day. You do that seven days a week, you're going to have something special." - Jim Valvano
yo to some basketball is just another sport, but hey to me bball is part of my life, without it i dont know where id be, whether you play in a game or sit the bench, being a player on the team, to wear the jersey across your chest is an accomplishement right there. to me the team is what it is all its about, what i will walk away with, what i will remember down the road, wont be the 20 seconds i played all season but the memories made during our triumphs and struggles through it all you sacrifice yourself for the team, you put your heart on the line and if it gets stepped on then your team is there, right there, to get you up again. we are sisters, through all of our differences and similarities we are who we are and right now we are the MATTAWAN BASKETBALL TEAM we represent our school and ourselves with pride. unity is what can kill a talented team, without HEART without the DRIVE the WANT the WILL to work together, to work through the ups and downs that we WILL face no doubt, will determine the "good from the great" and i am so pumped to get the ball rolling on this journey, this voyage with these 13 other amazing girls!! so as i play a supportive, motivation role on this team i will not quit on the team i will do what it takes to keep up and be the person i need to be for this team.love ya, chopper

"Deep down, your players must know you care about them. This is the most important thing. I could never get away with what I do if the players feel I didn't care for them. They know, in the long run, I'm in their corner." -- Bo Schembechler

My Interests

"Shared suffering: one guy messes up and everyone runs. One guy does well and everyone benefits."

You are now on a winning team. But you have never played. Therefore you must listen closely to what I have to tell you.. You think that you are disciplined, but you will never know whether or not you are disciplined until you step into a game for the first time. When you hear that first whistle for play to begin, you will know whether or not you are disciplined... Now a lot of people don’t know why we have discipline in our basketball program. They think that discipline is basketball and basketball is discipline, and that’s that. But I’ll tell you why we have discipline in our program. It is because you must play the game through habits. We develop habits through repetition, repetition, repetition. If we mess it up, we do it again and do it right. Your habits must be stronger than the fear of making a mistake or losing.

(One of General Patton's speeches modified for us.)

"What to do with a mistake--recognize it, admit it, learn from it, forget it." -- Dean Smith

"Great moments... are born from great opportunity. And that's what you have here, tonight, boys. That's what you've earned here tonight. One game. If we played 'em ten times, they might win nine. But not this game. Not tonight. Tonight, we skate with them. Tonight, we stay with them. And we shut them down because we can! Tonight, WE are the greatest hockey team in the world. You were born to be hockey players. Every one of you. And you were meant to be here tonight. This is your time. Their time is done. It's over. I'm sick and tired of hearing about what a great hockey team the Soviets have. Screw 'em. This is your time. Now go out there and take it." - Herb Brooks
(Coach of the 1980 Gold Medal Hockey Team)
"You have to motivate yourself through pride. You must push yourself mentally and physically. A lot of people say John Havlicek never gets tired. Well, I get tired, it's just a matter of pushing myself. I say to myself 'He's as tired as I am, who is going to win the mental battle?"' -- John Havlicek
"The biggest mistake an athlete can make is to be afraid to make one." -- L. Ron Hubbard
"If I had stood at the free-throw line and thought about 10 million people watching me on the other side of the camera lens, I couldn't have made anything. So I mentally tried to put myself in a familiar place. I thought about all those times I shot free throws in practice and went through the same motion, the same technique that I had used thousands of times. You forget about the outcome. You know you are doing the right things. So you relax and perform." -- Michael Jordan
"There are 86,400 seconds in a day. It's up to you to decide what to do with them." -- Jim Valvano
"Winning is about having the whole team on the same page" -- Bill Walton
"You'll always have everything in life that you want if you help enough people get what they want." -- Zig Ziglar
"He who makes no mistakes makes no progress." -- Theodore Roosevelt
"The happiest people are those who have harvested their time in others. The unhappiest people are those who wonder how the world is going to make them happy." -- John C. Maxwell
