Did I mention they used to call me Cornbread?

About Me

I am a fun-loving, soulful, psuedo-intellectual, whose life has been graced by the presence of some profound experiences which I can only characterize as my own private miracles. I initially joined to be able to communicate with my eldest daughter, who became incommunicado via email shorly after joining MySpace. Reluctantly drug along into yet more of cyber-space in search of familial groundings, I have discovered how fun it is (although, let's all remind ourselves-- no subsitute for the real thing baby!!!)!On a practical note, I have very demanding duties as a part of affiliation with two organizations, as well as that associated with being an involved parent. Having said that, I would love to meet others who have the impulse to make profundity of their lives in whatever senseless, beautiful-- All beauty makes perfect sense; and, what is not beautiful that we at a glance fail to consider as such? --creation-affirming activities which I might derive from what remains of life beyond foraging for our sustenance and otherwise unwittingly or not hindering our children's rightful ability to inherit stewardship of their lives and this world from we adults. It is my experience that there remains oh so much more to life than we could even imagine; just a matter of having a heart open to possiblities. My information contains a short list of things with which I strive to involve myself. Have a look. If any strikes a chord (on a positive tip, I am trusting), then welcome friend!!!! fantasy layout @ HOT FreeLayouts.com
[As once the winged energy of delight]As once the winged energy of delightcarried you over childhood's dark abysses, now beyond your own life build the great arch of unimagined bridges.Wonders happen if we can succeed in passing through the harshest danger;but only in a bright and purely granted achievement can we realize the wonder. To work with Things in the indescribable relationship is not too hard for us;the pattern grows more intricate and subtle, and being swept along is not enough.Take your practiced powers and stretch them outuntil they span the chasm between two contradictions...For the god wants to know himself in you.(Rainer Maria Rilke)

My Interests

Outdoorsy. Fishing, trekking/hiking, camping, cycling in that order.Film, mythology, world cultures metaphysics, religio-cultural history and traditions,Literature (my major in school).

I'd like to meet:

Like minded individuals for networking in the fields detailed; friends and associates.By the way, the next time you feel compelled for whatever reason to pick up a gun.... (IMMEDIATELY BELOW ON THE PAGE)Have a listen to Pops Witherspoon, and the advice he gives to Ice Cube in the Fridays movie...Good advice for a young man, and I daresay for what we all confront as a nation!!!The modern day, 21st Century version of Johnny Got His Gun, compressed into one cinematic scene.A cautionary tale for everyone who has stared mutually assured destruction in the eye, and had the rarer courage of having wisdom enough to be the one to blink!!!!

Music:

You name it: Jazz, and standards; early Pop, on to Motown and Rock; little Country by virtue of the early 70's Hacienda Rock tradition; funky dance music and fusion(the pre-Smooth Jazz era, please?), Alternative acoustic-based, lyric-driven music and its predecessors such as Joni Mitchell and Don Mclean. So drained on the Nihilism. Visualize/Actualize! Entirely within our inherited capability! If you can't see or feel it, you'll never be able to speak on it compellingly, eh?!Oh Yes, inspriational lyrics from any genre (even if they needed translation).

Movies:

What Dreams May Come, The New World (recent and good treatment of the literary record of the era), Being There, The Grand Canyon, Dersu Uzala the Hunter(Akiro Kurasawa), True Romance and Pulp Fiction, The Little Buddha and The Last Emperor(Bernardo Bertolucci).

Television:

Dare I say not enough quality, unless I can catch a film the ilk of the above topics. Sporting events, History and Discovery Channels; live performance, musical and dramaturgy.

Talk writers as opposed to titles: Louise Erdrich, Joyce Carol Oates, Barbara Kingsolver, Leslie Marmon Silko, Walter Mosely, Chester Himes, Derek Walcott, and Toni Morrison, Lao-Tsu, Kabir, Black Elk, E.L. Doctorow, Ralph Ellison.
