I am here for Friends

About Me

Just going along... at a job that keeps me busy and smiling (most of the time)... and working hard at home with good company by my side. Always a procrastinator... acute phone phobia sufferer... also, recently working on becoming a dog lover.

My Interests

Progressive ideas, alternative energy, recycling, live music, art, NPR (please make your contribution today), bargain shopping, cleaning (yes, I like to vacuum), international cuisine - actually, any cuisine, travelling (without flying), road trips in the camper...preferably long ones, good beer, good coffee...and lots of it. Can't forget to mention my dear friend, the cigarette...which has become an interest which only occupies my mind...alas, I miss you, and will love you forever. However...if the price of a pack drops back down to only $175.00, I might reconsider. Myspace Backgrounds

I'd like to meet:

People who aren't afraid to laugh at themselves, and who can find humor in all the absurd aspects of our existence...it's only life after all.

Music:

most anything I can sing, dance, or sleep to...The Band, Beatles, Grateful Dead, Gillian Welch, Sufjan Stevens, Richie Havens, Leo Kottke, Willie Nelson, Crosby Stills and Nash, Jack Johnson, Allman Brothers, Johnny Cash, Wilco, Coldplay, Flaming Lips, Phish, Pink Floyd, Bill Frisell, Beck, Manu Chao, Rickie Lee Jones, Neko Case, The Be Good Tanyas, Bobby McFerrin, Norah Jones, Simon and Garfunkel, Joan Baez, John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, George Harrison, Joni Mitchell, Led Zeppelin, Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Bob Marley, Janis Joplin, Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Etta James, Miles, Jaco, The Chieftains, Van Morrison, Vivaldi, Rachmaninov, Ravel, Copland, Holst, Orff...

Movies:

An Inconvenient Truth, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, The Matrix Trilogy, Back to the Future, Indiana Jones, The Original Star Wars Trilogy, Team America, The Wedding Singer, Little Miss Sunshine, Spinal Tap, Orgazmo, any Woody Allen film, The Last Waltz, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, V for Vendetta, any Monty Python film, Bowling for Columbine, Elf, Like Water For Chocolate, Shawshank Redemption, Magnolia, Love Actually, American Beauty, The Princess Bride, Napoleon Dynamite, Brokeback Mountain, One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer... ..

Television:

I have to admit, my television has amazing powers of pursuasion...but I haven't been able to sit in front of the tube lately. And if I do get the opportunity, one of the 36 versions of Law and Order is always on. Not a big fan. If I could make Law and Order disappear, I'd watch Scrubs, Conan O'Brien, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report, The Dog Whisperer (my hero).

Books:

John Irving, Bryce Courtenay, Tom Robbins, JK Rowling, Bill Bryson, Hermann Hesse, JRR Tolkien...

Heroes:

Woody Allen, Al Franken, Steve Colbert, Jon Stewart, Trey Parker, Matt Stone, Conan O'Brien, Matt Groening and others for helping us laugh outright at the face of self-righteousness. Oh yeah, my folks are pretty cool, too.
