About Me

JAMES GREAR & COMPANY
James Grear and Company is a 9 member vocal ensemble that has given their lives to the proclamation of Jesus Christ. Radically, this group achieves this by performing not only in church settings, but also in venues and secular hot spots where the ministry does not usually appear.
James Grear & Company has longevity in an otherwise short lived industry. The Companys debut project entitled Don't Give Up (1998) took the industry by storm with over 30 weeks on both the Billboard R&B/Gospel Charts with three hit singles, guest appearances by multi-platinum artist T-Low of NEXT and Ann Nesby, formerly of the Sounds of Blackness.
Since then the Company have completed three other albums with 40+ weeks of billboard, 4 Stellar Award nominations, 2 Excellence, and a Soul Train Award nominee. Among their most recent credits is their appearance on a soundtrack for the movie, "The Fighting Temptations," featuring Beyonce of Destiny's Child and Angie Stone, produced by the incomparable team of Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. They've appeared on NBC's Today Show performing as the backup singers for pop diva Mariah Carey. The group has also co-starred in a musical stage production entitled, "Hell's Too Hot," along with the 80's disco diva Cherlyn (To Be Real). Grear & Company has been featured on other soundtracks such as Prince of Egypt with Boys II Men, and the Imperials New Groove with Sting. Among other accomplishments, Grear & Compnay is featured on a Live CD / DVD with Dr. Bobby Jones and Tonex in Italy at the historic Umbria Jazz festival.
Grear & Company has completed their first live recording in the Twin Cities, MN and is set to release in the spring of 2009.
As stated by their industry peers -- "James Grear & Company is one of the most remarkable Gospel groups of our times. They sing with the anointing and their presentation is extremely enriching", Dr. Bobby Jones, BET Bobby Jones Gospel.
