Just WHAT THE HELL IS THE IDEA BEHIND IT ALL?
This album is filled with beats that i made in 2001-2002... THATS THE FIRST ODD THING!
"There were 13 particular tracks that caught my attention in late November. I decided that if i am to ever make music again... i must start where i left off." 2002 was the year where "There's Nothin' Like this" was released, Chris Rod's First Full Length album under the rap name: Radio-C. Chris Rod continues, "These beats would have naturally fallen into the next 2 albums i was planning to make simultaneously. One was to be the first Opaque Sunrise album with Rapper/partner Emcee Netik, and the other was to be my second solo album." In early September of 2002, Opaque Sunrise saw its abrupt and tragic break up... the world of hip-hop's hopeful future was crushed, and so was Chris Rod and Netik. It is noted that the opening song in this album explains this scenario in the second verse. The rest of the album is lightly showered with imagery of Sunrise and Sunsets in homage to the late Opaque Sunrise.
Going back to these beats with the determination of finishing writing/recording on a short 2 week schedule, Chris Rod had to work diligently and patiently. And that he did. While finishing up this album a tragedy struck too close to home. The death of his childhood best friend's father slowed down the last days of production. It was during this time that Chris removed 2 club-oriented tracks from the final cut of the album and created 2 deeper songs, one to set the tone for the last song on the album, which he wrote for his best friend.
The conscience of this king is being found with the help of this album. The title of the album was inspired by Shakespeare's HAMLET. "The play is the thing wherein we'll catch the conscience of the king." Hence the CD's visual art.
Chris Rod has already begun working on the next project in the Chris Rod Cannon titled "Life After Radio-C" The Musical compositions will be formed using beats which he made during 2003-2005. In some of the writings already completed, Chris Rod is touching on personal memories of significant events that happened to him during those years. he states that these songs will be building upon some of the stories told in "Conscience of the King". "The instrumentals I have made over the years have become sort of a tracker for the events that have happened to me. I captured my feelings in each beat... it is just funny how only now am i able to match the 2; my memories, with the music i made. The rest isn't silence, the rest is love."If you wish for a full copy of "Conscience of the King" Please Contact Chris Rod directly through this myspace. AS FOR NOW! "Conscience of the King" is in post production and is set to find its completion in mid-Late January of 2008.
