Yo suckers, you like superheroes? Watch this!

About Me

Everything you need to know about me, you can find in "Me and Mia' by Ted Leo and the Pharmacists.
I'm tough, but I'm fair. I'm working very hard at being a better human being, and think it's going well so far. According to my friends, my alignment has shifted from Lawful Neutral to Lawful Good, which is a big deal to me. I can be an asshole, but I'm pretty charming too, so I think you'll find that you will forgive me. Also, just as an addendum, when you meet other folks who are the "charming asshole" type, I swear to you they'll never be able to pull it off with as much panache as I do. They're all too much asshole, not enough charming. Eaves changed all of this and the only thing I remember is that, indeed, you can find out everything you need to know about me in "Me and Mia"... Other than that, I'm not sure...What a dick...Eaves just happened to my Myspace.
I'm dating Clair...she's really cool...:)But I still really, really, really, really, really miss my cat.
Likes: My taste in music, intense roles, good arms, audio books, Florida, iambic pentameter, Galactus and gorilla jumping on cars. Dislikes: Septum piercings, people who say that they like, "All kinds of music...except country...", college, people who have four books in their "Favorite Books" list and two of them are "DaVinci Code" and "Angels and Demons", the fact that I'll probably never be able to make a living in theatre, people who put "Vegas" after the first syllable of their city, Wicked and makeup.
And I'm sorry if I offended anyone with my dislikes. Just know that if the "Favorite Books" one applies to you, I totally can't take you seriously. My new fascination: Slate podcasts. I mean, it's already one of the most entertaining / informational sites on the internet...might as well take up some time when I'm away from the internet as well...
Stardom is a mere moment away. Casting directors see me ALL THE TIME. I wish I were important and cry myself to sleep at nights begging God to either smite my enemies or make me famous so that I can smite my enemies. I don't take this very seriously.
I don't blog on here... If you want to see me blogging, check out http://www.livejournal.com/users/jkobb/
Or maybe don't. I type personal stuff there, man. My work is personal. I'm a working person. I put in work. I work with purpose. I make art, not friends, dammit.

My Interests

Music and theatre, but not musical theatre. Making lists, Wrestling, Dungeons, Dragons, Geeks, Internet, Basketball, Civilizations, Simulations, (learning to be as cool as) Sam Rockwell.

I'd like to meet:

People who think I'm a big deal.

Music:

Let's be honest, if I tried to tell you, it would take too long. Just rest assured that I have better taste in music than anyone you know. But, a sampling, because you demanded it so. Ted Leo/RX, Edan, Dizzee Rascal, Public Enemy, Prince, Death Cab for Cutie, The Streets, Mos Def, Mike Doughty, Mutual Admiration Society, Peter Eldridge, Big and Rich, Charlie Robison, Murder by Death, The Smiths, The Darkness, MC Frontalot, Tom the White Owl.
Top 5 Songs of the Right Now (Saying Goodbyes Edition):
1: The Thrills, "Midnight Choir" 2: Flight of the Concords, "Bret, You've Got It Going On" 3: T-Pain, "69"
4: Common, "The People"
5: Colin Hay, "Beautiful World" (Again) Bonus Track: Hip Hop Epilepsy, "I Smell Blood"
Lyric(s) of the Right Now:
"Slow down. Lately lives are moving too fast. Put your money down and we'll make it last. By dawn we'll be out of here." The Thrills, "Midnight Choir" "Thank you, Miss Virginia, for a sunrise left by sleepless nights..." Miss Virginia I work with purpose, bitches...

Movies:

My Top 10:
1: Swingers - It reached me at a time when I needed it. I don't see anything dethroning it.
2: American Psycho - The film that made me a fan of Christian Bale. It's hilarious, in the right mindset.
3: Gangs of New York - Daniel Day Lewis' Bill is, without exception, the best performance I've ever seen. Period.
4: Hedwig and the Angry Inch - I love this film because, despite the fact that the life of Hedwig seems so out of reach, it's not. It's not about what happens to her, it's about being lonely, which everyone can identify with.
5: Bamboozled - The best film Spike Lee has ever made, in my opinion. It's bitter, and it's funny, and it's sad, and it's beautiful all at the same time.
6: Oldboy - The movie that introduced me to Chanwook Park. He's one of the three directors (Darren Aronofsky and Chris Nolan being the others...) that I will watch anything they make, just based on the good will they've built up. 7: Mystery Science Theatre 3000: The Movie - I can quote all of it. I want it on DVD so badly...
8: High Fidelity / About A Boy - I know, it's lazy to chunk together the Nick Hornby movies, but they fill the same slot. I love the fact that Nick can write these unrepentant assholes with such ease.
9: The Big Lebowski - A shout out to my youth. Lebowski is so absurd that you can't help but love it.
10: Big Fish - A new addition to the list. I cry, literally, every time I see this movie. So I figure something that garners such a reaction should be here.
Honorable Mention: The Fountain. Recently Dropped: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Frankly, I just couldn't take it when every single emo kid co-opted it for their life. It's still a wonderful movie, I just got too tired of it. That is all you need to know. Also, perhaps this... Bookends - Trailer

Television:

The State of Television as I see it: If I had more time, I'd probably watch Lost, but as I see it now, the survivors are just getting fucking railroaded, so I'm just not that interested right now. Call me when they get the upper hand. The best fictional show on television is Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. I greedily consume anything that has to do with Project Runway. I mainly watch television shows in DVD format (Scrubs, Stella, Batman and Justice League, Entourage, Extras, South Park, Upright Citizen's Brigade, Earlier Sopranos.) To conclude, I stand by the one truth that Arrested Development is the best thing to ever be on television. Period. Update: If you have a chance, watch Friday Night Lights. It's great. Podcast Schedule: Lots of gaming podcasts, especially in the 1Up Network - 1Up Yours, Retronauts, EGM Live, PTI, GFW Radio, Joystiq, Legendary Thread, Lynchland, One Life Left, Slate Podcasts (I have a crush on Emily Bazelon...she's so smart...), The Ricky Gervais Show and This American Life.

Currently Reading: God of Hell by Sam Shepard and How to Stop Acting by Harold GuskinAuthors: John Irving (A Prayer for Owen Meaney, The Cidar House Rules) Stephen King (The Dark Tower Series, The Talisman, Pretty much anything...) Heroes:

Spiderman, Magneto, Daniel Day-Lewis, Sam Rockwell, J. Brent Morrison, Stephen King, MC Frontalot, Ricky Gervais, Any Working Actor (Not necessarily working entertainer...), Anyone willing to make fun of themselves, Tom Levalley, my friends, my grandparents, my parents. Frankly, anyone who will put up with my shit on a consistent basis.
Also... Jonas Brandon recently moved to Nashville from the small town of Benton, KY. With his irresistible charm and incredible range, Brandon has quickly, and almost effortlessly, built an impressive list of filmography. He has established himself as a diverse performer on many stages, on television, and in both mainstream and independently produced films -- including the Will Ferrell comedy Talladega Nights and his portrayal of four very different eligibles in Matt Riddlehoover's To A Tee. A technology aficionado, Brandon also owns and operates his own IT support company, Geeks For Hire. Incidentally, and however appropriate, he is currently preparing to produce and star in a computer consultant comedy next spring.
