Local musicians are usually involved in a multitude of musical projects honing their skills and finding inspiration from each other. Great Blues and Jazz can be seen in the bars and venues of the city and throughout New Jersey and Long Island. Our local talent could be some small countries musical icon. Among our undiscovered gems is Jeanne Lozier. Possessed of a unique voice and powerful determination Jeanne has succeeded where others have struggled. She has self-produced a remarkable first album "Queen of Your Dreams" which thoroughly displays her talent as a vocalist. Jeanne Lozier's voice is powerful enough so that she can growl with the best, but she always sounds like a woman. The New York Blues and Jazz Society embraces its talented members and trys to encourage them by helping to promote them. We're probably the third Blues Society to tout Ms Lozier, and she will be co-headlining our next band showcase to be held August 13th at The Bitter End (the famous Greenwich Village nightclub where in 1961 a young Bob Dylan took the stage). Her band for this cd includes songwriter/guitarist Gar Francis who wrote or co-wrote all the songs, three with Jeanne. Gar shares the guitar chores with Mark E Bowers (front man for Lil Bastad, a local band with a strong following) and James "T" Tilson, who has worked with our friend, the talented singer/songwriter Ms. Rosalind Block. The band also includes Dan Cipriano who not only plays saxophone but is credited as being the "horn section". Dan is most noted for his work with Wilson Pickett. Tim Lautz and Melvin Davis handle the keyboards while the rhythm section is made of Tony Storm, bass and Glenn Johnson, drums. The album starts with Gar Francis's guitar intro, then Jeanne sings, "I am the Queen of Your Dreams, I come to you in your sleep". Dan Cipriano's saxophone is world class. Dan's sax opens the next one "Sweet and Slow". This time Melvin Davis solos on organ. It seems that the album gets better the more you listen. "Sometimes you make me so Mad, when you're good, you're good but when you're bad, you're bad." Local guitar ace Bernie Brauswelter guests on "Beg and Plead". Jeanne gets low with one she co-wrote with Gar "Your Fool No More", this time it's Mark E Bowers who solos on guitar.Dan Cipriano opens on all saxes, overdubbed and sounding like a full horn section while Jeanne sings "I'm Keeping What I Got" and its one of the albums highlights. Jeanne Lozier however saves the best for last and closes with the fantastic "Loving a Woman Like Me" which is the track receiving most airplay. Jeanne Lozier will be appearing at The New York Blues and Jazz Society next member band showcase to be held Sunday August 13th at The Bitter End 147 Bleecker St, Greenwich Village, New York City. Jeanne Lozier is a young talent with an impressive first album. www.jeannelozier.com ************************************************************ ************************************************************ *******************************Richard Ludmerer Director, The New York Blues & Jazz Society [email protected].. --> --> CDBABY LINK for JEANNE LOZIER: Queen of your Dreams -->
