HEADSTRONG SOCIETY since 1993, founded by Jason Hurst aka Dj Fusion aka J:Fuse aka Funky Manipulator, Alex Hurst aka Dj Ride aka Mindstate, Gabe Lagalo Dj Champagne, Rick Hill, Tom S. aka the sparrow, with new members Josh b., and Nick A aka dj TekNick, aka Dj Ave. Is and always will be about the love of music, a collective of people who beleive the vibe is alive, and the sound should stay UNDERGROUND, with a outlook of keeping the head right and vibes tight, while supporting upcoming scenes, and being involved with promotions of established companies. Hailing outta the Midwest (U.P. of Michigan, Minneapolis, MN, Duluth, MN, Chicago,IL, and now San Francisco, CA) our first show in march 1993 on the shores of lake superior"FUNK INSTAGATOR"which featured Brainfarmer, Champagne, fusion and others was the walk before run process with a turn out of a few hundred. Then on to the first "rave" ever thrown in N.Minnesota in Duluth was in Jan 1994 "SENTIENCE" with the support of the Disco Family Plan, Minneapolis M.O.R.E., Drop Bass Network, Brass Collective, Time Delay and the A&E Network featured Dj's E.S.P. Woody McBride (mpls), Hyperactive(chitown) Jethro X, Jedidiah the Messiah(mill), Davey Dave(chitown) What the(mad), E-tones(mpls) Mindrive(mad,SanFran) and othrs was thrown on the coldest day of 1994 but with a 100,000 watts of bass and the basement of the DECC auditorium, and 800 kids that party was on for the books and the start of a now thriving scene in N.Minnesota Then we shifted our attention to a cafe called the "Urban Grounds" which had a killer dance floor and awesome owner we threw a series of shows there all with capacity turnouts and sculpting the sounds of the mid-west the first was "JUICY GROOVES" featured djs Mindrive(mad), Davey Dave(chitown), and the one and only Wade Hampton aka Wish FM (SanFrancisco). Then came "UNITE" which Dj Terry Mullan completely shreaded it for 4 hours and made the mark for all others to try to hit, also was the man E-tones(mpls), Earth(ind), and Dj Apollo the acid hero(mpls). The follwing week was "KICK IT" with the sweet sound of Dj Astroboy(st.love), Justin Long(chitown) Xeyon(mad)and Apollo(mpls) Now firm in the midwest scene Headstrong decided with the help of the genius of bookings Wade Hapton, RockstarRick, jdsjds, and the soldiers of duluth like Kelly F., Lee, K. and Jah'Lah to throw a summer series of full moon parties to coincide with every full moon in the summer of 1995 which were called "LUNA" (1,2,3,) these events were the first outdoor beach parties thrown in the midwest and thrown on the south shore of the great lake superior. Bringing in acts from around the world like the the legends Jon Williams of the U.K., Scott Hardkiss(SF), Miles Maeda(HI), Mindrive(mad), Davey Dave, E-Tones, Apollo, Alex Jarvis, Mystic Bill,(chitown old school, and house cultavator), Trevor Lamount(ind),Drone(mpls),Fusion, Champagne, and a supporting cast of locals and up and comers. these parties were always free and went till the wee morning hours and had the best loving vibes one could ever ask for and all averaged about 500-600 awesome peoples. Then bach to the warehouse "EDEN" was the biggest sound system by far with a wooping 125,000 watts, with the whole drop bass terror unit dj squad, who is Mr. Bill, Jethro X, Jedidiah the Messiah, E.S.P Woody, and Davey Dave, and others from the area was headed up by RockstarRick, and another great show with a very good turnout and was a turning point, because then came "S.W.A.K."( sealed with a kiss) in the fall of 95 was a straight up underground party I'm mean we broke into a warehouse in N.Minneapolis, and had about 80,000 watts and argon lasers,and a capacity turnout of about 1,500 Headliner Scott Hardkiss, Traxx(chitown) Mystic Bill, Astroboy, Drone, Etones, Wade Hampton, made sure all was safe until about noon the next day! Then came "COSMOS"march 1996 headed up by Jason Hurst which was thrown in Madison,WI. with Dj's Nigal Richards(611,Philly), DBX(Peacefrog,Detroit), the one and only Derrick Carter(chitown), ESP(communique,mpls), mindrive, Aj47, Etones,was a knochout with 2,000 in attendance, 100,000 watts, this party was busted at 6 am due to the bangin sound, but all was good and nobody seemed to mind since there was a sick after party hosted by the awsome MOFOCO boys of Madison. Throughout the years some people have come and some have gone but Headstrong supported and threw other show such as in 1999,2000 Northern Lights 1,2, with Todd D, and Fusion, at the helm and was an outdoor series in the U.P. where we actually had it all set up in the back of a u-haul so we could get out easily if needed and was lots of fun. and other shows throughout the midwest, like we said now some of us are locted in San Francisco and recently threw a 3 day show in NorCal Called "ASTRALAB" which we rented a whole little town and brought in Astroboy(stlove,MO) TekNick(mpls), Ride(mpls), Olen Peirce(sac), Fusion(mpls) Symbio(chico),Logan5(chico,SF),Abstract Terrorist(chico) and great bands such as The Resonators, Knowvella,M.G.B, Selkie, and had the sickest up and coming vocalist Mc Virus. the show was a hit for a scene that was basically gone and had a 425 turnout. it was lots of fun and the last show we have done. But throughout the years we were involved with many others and threw smaller scales for the house heads. Look for us next year as we do it again"ASTRALAB 2 the RE-BIRTH" is in the works and will be another weekender, with more top notch acts, and more fun for everyone to get into, REMEMBER PEACE ALWAYS, KEEP THE SOUND UNDERGROUND, and KEEP THE VIBE ALIVE!!!!!MUCH LOVE!!!
