i want Arcology to be a local underground arts and culture magazine, kind of like a folio weekly for the other half. some ideas are to have local news (that you would actually care about), vegan recipes, art pages (featuring art/stories/poems by local artists), event calenders (of events that arent widely published), cd reviews, interviews (with bands, people, artists, dudes, around town.) articles (both locally written and maybe some taken out of crimethinc books, manifestos, etc.), graffiti pictures, trade pages (to buy/sell/trade records, bikes, pots and pans, books, anything) and whatever else i can fit in it.
heres where you come in. i cant do this all by myself. i need people to write articles, draw pictures, do interviews, tell me about events, tell me about news. ANYBODY IS WELCOME! i dont care if you cant draw, dont know what a semicolon is, and have never done an interview in your life. thats kind of the spirit of it anyway. for the kids by the kids.
of course i want to make it free. but there are some obvious problems that come with this. 1) if its free people will throw it away, or use it for scratch paper. 2) copies, ink, and paper arent free, (well not 100%)
some ideas i have had are selling advertising space ("he sold out before he even made his first issue!") not like magazines, but if you have a website, band, talent, company, photography, art, tattoo artist, or whatever, and you want to pitch in like $5-$10 to help out, it would come in VERY VERY handy. and you know im not trying to get rich off of this thing, all of the advert money will be put back into the zine.
and its also been suggested to have limited edition prints, these may feature: screenprinted covers, hardcovers, color pages, hand numbered, or whatever else we can make SPECIAL about it. and we would sell these for 1 or 2 dollars a piece.
and then there is the ol fashion pan handling way, if people want to donate 25 cents, $1, $10, $50, i will again put ALL of the money into the zine.
sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo if anyone wants to submit ANYTHING (quotes, art, links, video game cheat codes, anything) please do. pllllllllllllleaseeeeeeeeeeeee
