About Me

DJ Hyssop is a producer/dj who moved to Boston in 2005. He has produced a number of project-oriented DIY albums, including Civil Disobedience based on samples from the beat-era dial-a-poem project (www.ubu.com) run over off-kilter melodies and deeply programmed drum loops, which is something of an anti-war, anti-government, flashback diatribe against the status quo, and his more recent dynamite mixtape cd, featuring spiritual eastern music mixed over jagged funk grooves and aggressive bass loops, resulting in a high/low, mind/body experiment in dualism. These albums are available for promotional purposes by contacting Hyssop directly.

He is currently working on Modern Medicine, a new album featuring entirely original material, recording new material with the eclectic world fusion collective Conundrum, and dj'ing whenever possible.

A Maine native, DJ Hyssop spent extensive time abroad honing his craft and collaborating with international musicians. Hyssop's Dead Language Studio provides DJ services, mix compilations, and original compositions for events in New England and beyond. Contact for details.

Kung Fu Zen Moment

Sometimes I like to sit down with crossed legs, slowly regulate my breathing, and watch some kung fu fighting. No words. Just action. Bruce Lee vs. Kareem Abdul Jabar:
