About Me

DJ Guevara aka….. Music is a powerful medium that demands respect from turntables, needles, mixing boards and DJs. In New York City clubs and in his recording studio, music is the master and DJ Guevara is its humble servant. “Music can incite feelings of love, happiness, sadness, anger, bring back memories and inspire creativity. It’s amazing how you can get your message across using music,” he smiles. It’s with this spirit that DJ Guevara moves the masses as some of today’s hottest New York clubs - he holds weekly residencies at Son Cubano on Thursday nights and G2 on saturdays, in the trendy Meat Packing district. DJ Guevara has also appeared at the famed Lotus, Katra, Blvd. Cipriani’s and Touch. When he’s not in the clubs, DJ Guevara can be found at New York’s School of Audio Engineering (SAE) where he is developing his skills as an audio engineer and in the recording studio with some of today’s up and coming artist. Argentina-born and New York-raised, DJ Guevara is the American music dream. Exposed as a youth to the cultural melting pot of New York’s Lower East Side, DJ Guevara’s upbringing was set to the backdrop of Latin rhythms, hip hop beats, rock ballads and pop music staples. “CBGB’s was a couple blocks from my house,” recalls Guevara. “That place pretty much birthed the Ramones, as well as countless other rock stars, and fueled the punk rock movement, which really sort of defined that NY underground feel and attitude of the 70’s and 80’s…the era that made New York….well New York….” At SUNY New Paltz University (NY), DJ Guevara co-hosted a hip-hop show on 88.7 WFNP for over two years and honed his skills rocking numerous college parties as well as becoming a local radio personality. DJ Guevara’s sound today reflects his appreciation for many genres of music: hip-hop, house, funk, reggae, classic rock, and Latin, but he’s known to incorporate what he calls “curveballs” into a mix just to shake things up. “You have to take risks in order to separate yourself. Plus those who really connect with the music tend to appreciate it whether they’re into that type of music or not, they are my crowd at that point.” DJ Guevara explains. This beatsmith recognizes music as a universal and spiritual language and sites Rakim, Primo, Jimmy Hendrix, Gil Scott Heron, John Coltrane and Carlos Santana as musical idols and inspirations. “Someone can give a great speech that could change the way you think but imagine listening to that message over and over again in the form of a song. It hits you a million times deeper, not to mention you’ll probably hear it a million times over…makes you think about the power of song…” In 2009, DJ Guevara is committed to connecting to the world through music, he continues to travel and deejay in venues around the world along with spending more time in his lab; High Def Studios located in Brooklyn NY where he immerses himself in beat production and audio engineering.....
