The WHAT CHEER? BRIGADE is a rowdy 19-piece brass band from Providence, RI. We play Luddite Hardcore, loud, mobile music requiring no electricity. We are a party band, and our sound incorporates elements of the following musical traditions: Bollywood, Balkan, New Orleans, Samba, and punk; that’s the short list.

Since 2005…..we have played played bars, clubs, libraries, trees, cemeteries, weddings, bus stops, ferris wheels, farms, and elementary school playgrounds-from small community events in Providence to large festivals in Europe.

The What Cheer? Brigade has played alongside: Man Man, Japanther, Dengue Fever, Okkervil River, Lightning Bolt, Ninjasonik, Mika Miko, Matt and Kim, Wolf Parade, DJ Scratch, and Slavic Soul Party, just to name a few.
