Hurricane Katrina, the most powerful natural disaster this country has ever seen, destroyed houses, leveled buildings, and left the city of New Orleans barren. Another hurricane brewing in the south, with his sights set on the music industry. Leiz, one of the most powerful singer/ songwriters of today, evokes extreme passion for music with every note he sings. His writing style gives him an innate ability to tell heart felt stories through his music. His vocal power is equivalent to hurricane force winds.Born Ali J. Abdin III in New Orleans, LA, Leizs talent was discovered around the age of three, when he performed for the first time for a live audience. Since then, this 24-yr old has not stopped. Throughout his years growing up, Leiz realized that music was his ultimate dream. Studying the great singer/songwriters like Stevie Wonder, Babyface, Smokey Robinson, and Luther Vandross, he perfected his craft. Leiz grew up in a spiritual household with his mother, father, and two brothers. Church choirs and various other spiritual musical groups were the focal point of his early vocal development. In his adolescent years, Leiz attended the New Orleans Center of Creative Arts, were he studied vocal music/performing arts.In high school, Leiz was a member of the locally acclaimed R&B group Infatuation. This group attained local stardom by obliterating the competition in talent shows around the city. The success of the group preceded them to the point were they were not allowed to compete in shows, but they could be featured as special guest. Before the end of his high school career, the groups name was changed to First Impression. They were on the verge to stardom, when minor glitches in the communication caused the group to split in 1998.After the split, becoming a solo artist was the prime target for Leiz.While acquiring a Bachelors of Arts in Theatre and Performing Arts from Southern University A&M College in Baton Rouge, LA, Leiz made it his personal mission to achieve his goal. Competing in various talents shows in college, taught him critical techniques of stage presence and showmanship by giving him many opportunities to try new ways to convey his sultry voice and unique style.Leiz creates an open book of his life on his latest LP Stories of My Life, were he reveals the heartaches and pains, as well as his happier times in life. Leave Me Alone is a perfect display of conveying personal thoughts into a song. Wide Open shows his range, by appealing to any audience young and old. Im Sorry is a personal testimony to all women who have been mistreated by his male counterparts. All of these creations flaunt Leizs mesmerizing vocal range and ability capture the listener with his surreal, lyrical content.The forecast is clear, Leiz is destined for music stardom. Unlike Hurricane Katrina that came hard and depart quickly, Leiz will be a significant force to reckon with for years to come.
