About Me

"Where is he from, Belgium?" where the hell is that. This is just a common reaction you might get when you hear this guy flow. You can consider Lux as rapper coming from North Dakota or Nebraska. Born out of a family of immigrants seeking for a better future in Europe, Lux quickly realized that hip hop was his true passion and lifestyle.Ever since, it’s been a struggle that markes his motivation and self-confidence. At a young age, he started competing in talent shows and battles. Often his perseverance was not taken seriously by the music industry in Belgium. Deals were offered but Lux didn’t wanna follow the ’Sesame Street’ hip hop hysteria. He wanted to stay connected with the streets and keep his head up. He dropped an underground record, started doing shows all over Europe, from the Melkweg in Amsterdam to clubs in Germany and Switzerland. At the age of 22 he took a break till 2005 to get his money right. He flipped his hustle to the clothing business and runs a succesful store in his hometown Antwerp aka Diamond City. A mediocre city in the middle of Europe, but the main trading place of diamonds in the world. And home of the fourth biggest port of the world. So you know, there’s a lot of money circulating in that area. Lux quote "there’s only one goal for me at this moment, getting at the top of the game by any means necessary. I know I got skills. I just gotta put it outthere and keep on moving. When you hot, there will always be people who gonna try to put a brake on your hustle. Whether it’s on the streets or in the music business. The harder you hit, the more the industry and collegues gonna try to put up a boycot. We see it everyday, DJ’s who own record stores that don’t wanna sell our mixtapes cuz their products stay on the shelves taking dust. Record labels who tell us they not interested in hiphop that matches the US standards cuz I would endanger their other European "crap" artists. Most of the time these people got the same dreams as yours, making a living out of their passion. Real recognize real, so I only deal with people who support me. And it works mutual. It’s not easy getting picked up by the labels when you got a New York flow and you not from there. I can’t do nothing about it, I don’t know nothing else. I grew up with East coast hiphop.I always felt related with the latino’s in hiphop cuz they were fighting the same struggle as me overseas at the late 90’s. Nobody was taking me seriously, cuz I wasn’t black. I often heard that I would never make it cuz I wasn’t black. That was just a extra motivation for me. That’s how my respect grew for the Terror Squad. They was just like me, but they managed to take it to the next level. Fat joe and Big pun (R.I.P.) thought me a lot through their music and I gotta thank them for that. I only got one role model though and that’s my father.Currently Lux is working with Dj Twelve on his musical career. One purpose, deliver joints but focusing on quality not quantity. One goal, the motha....... top!!!!!!
