I was raised in West Jordan and went to West Jordan Elementary, Middle, and High School. I was a Jr. Jaguar, a Shamrock, and a Jaguar. I graduated from Westminster College in 1997 with degrees in Business and Communication. I later went back and completed a Masters Degree at Westminster in Professional Communication.
During the year I graduated with my Masters I met the most wonderful man (Kevin) in the world and convinced/bribed him to be my eternal companion.
My job history is as odd and diverse as I am. I started as a lowly stockboy at House of Fabrics. When I found out that men could never become counter help because the women objected (I'm not making that up) I found my first "easy" job at West Valley Hobbies. At the time it was a small hobby shop with a few dozen customers a day. In between customers I would do homework and watch TV. It was a rough life for $4.00 an hour.
Then came my first real job (making more than minimum wage). I was hired at the Holiday Inn Reservations Center as a Reservation Sales Agent, and was later promoted to Payroll Specialist.
Disatisfied with the monotony of the job I later moved to Circuit City when they first entered the Utah market. I helped open the Taylorsville store (which closed after I left...draw your own conclusions) and learned a great deal about computers. This came in very handy at my next real job, Discover Card.
While finishing up my bachelor degrees my mom convinced me to apply at Discover Card. I worked there for 6 months as an Account Manager (the person you talk to on the phone when you call 800-DISCOVER) was promoted to Database Specialist for 6 months, then LAN Technican for 2 years, New Hire Trainer for a year, Unit Manager for a year, Senior Training Specialist for three years.
Having hit the ceiling of my training carrer (unless I wanted to move to Chicago) I decided to look around a bit and was offered a great position at PacifiCorp (also known as Utah Power, Pacific Power, Rocky Mountain Power, that company Warren Buffet bought, etc.) Thus ends my employment story, for now...
