Sherman Ray Anteola (born October 21, 1984), also known as Ickest, is a Filipino-American Neo-Soul and pop singer-songwriter, web-designer, photographer, and Hawaii's hilarious YouTube star based in Murrieta, California. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii and discovered by his show on YouTube which showcases other than his musical talents, but his comedic one-man show captivated fans all over Hawaii. Anteola, released his first studio album, My Rhapsody, in 2006 with On The Rock Recording and CDBABY.COM.
With his growing fan base, Anteola is currently finishing up a second studio digital release. This upcoming sophomore album will introduce his vocal maturity with songs that may relate to others on a personal level. Some of the topics relate to change, relationships, love's battlefield, and friendships. It's melodic and different than all the R&B out today.
"Ickest?" Anteola used it as complimentary expression in high school. Remember when you were a kid and you made up your own lingo within your group of friends? That was "Ickest!" After registering the word into everyone's vocabulary, a friend of Anteola's had used "Ickest" as a nickname for him. 'Til this day, that nickname remains as his stage name!
Before releasing My Rhapsody, Anteola worked hard with self promotion. He sent demos out to many local radio stations and only one replied with the courtesy to play a song on air, Hawaii's KNDI Filipino Radio. Better than nothing at all don't you think? He performed for various local contests such as Road To Fame and Brown Bags to Stardom. Anteola was determine to "get out there" and landed some private gigs and open mics at the famous Don Ho's Restaurant, Leeward Community College, Pagoda hotel, and Pacific Beach Hotel just to name some. A few word of mouth, online promos, and free demo samples later, Anteola now interacts with fans on YouTube and MySpace because of their convienent flash media tools. Instead of searching and preparing live gigs, YouTube became an awesome tool to showcase his music along with fun skits and personal home made clips for fans to get to know who the "I" in Ickest really is. With Hawaii behind his back, he's ready to take on higher endeavours with the help of big time A&R representitives of TAXI. You might totally dig him if you check him out!
