Check out Darkhorse Radio Show 79. Featuring music and an interview with the singer/songwriters of the band, Ryan and Jesse Lawrence.
From the western town of Rutland, Vermont come the fresh and familiar sounds of Drag. Forming in early 2005, the group derives much of its influence from bands such as The Byrds, T-Rex, The Beatles, and The Beach Boys. Creating a diverse realm of songs that stand out in a unique way, this band tastefully brings timeless melodies, catchy hooks, and feel good tunes to the rock n’roll scene.
In between recording at home in the garage and expanding their ever growing set list, Drag has preformed at dives, bars, and venues including: 3D’s, Sidelines Tavern, The Vermont State Fair, Nectars 4th of July Night 2006, the S.O.S. Music Festival held at Paramount Theatre, and Albertus Magnus College. Drag was also selected from among 60 bands to be one of six to perform at the 105.3 WEBK Battle of the Bands.
Even prior to the band’s formation singer/songwriters Ryan and Jesse Lawrence already boasted successful solo careers. In 2003 Jesse won studio time and also received the Colgate Music Award from the Colgate Music Festival and a Castleton College Performance award. Two years later it was Ryan’s turn. He received this rave review at Cnet.com online music and downloading:
“Tracing tight lyrical circles, Ryan Lawrence imbues his songs with energy and youthful passion. Acoustic or electric, this 21-year-old Vermonter doesn’t even need all four tracks to make his songs sound complete.â€
Editors Pick, Cnet (4/05)
With two accomplished musicians as front men and a tight rhythm section. All four members bring an entertaining set that anyone can enjoy.
