No Eye Contact was born as the private recording project of Massachusetts native Raky Sastri. After moving to New York ten winters ago and gigging as a drummer in several bands, he began recording songs under the moniker in 2004, releasing one EP.
Over the years the project grew, in fits and starts, until it could no longer be contained by bedrooms, CD-Rs, and laptop computers. Now a trio featuring Sastri alongside multi-instrumentalists Josh Arnoudse and Gideon Irving, the group released its full-length debut “You and Me and Other Fables†in June of 2009 and began hauling its strange menagerie of half-broken folk instruments and cheap distortion pedals to music halls, campuses, and environmental education centers across the Northeastern United States.
NPR says: "wonderfully off-kilter percussion, propulsive guitars, found sounds and rousing singalongs"
Jezebel Music says: "cut-to-the-chase lack of pretension...lo-fi joy"
