Dj for about ten years, Dj Monolythe mixes Hip-Hop as well as Drum’n’Bass.
First attracted by Hip-Hop based on Jazz, Funk and Soul music, represented by groups such as A Tribe Called Quest or Gangstarr, he met a collective of Djs in Nantes called « Coup 2 Cross », sharing the same influences, made up of Dj Greem, Dj Pfel, Dj Atom and 20syl (talented Hip-Hop producer).
These early experiences permited him to develope musically and technically.
Thanks to Coup 2 Cross, he found an introduction into the techniques of scratch.
Dj Monolythe met Drum’n’Bass at the end of the 90s. Arriving in Paris in 2001, he gets involved in the movement.
Fascinated by the energy that this music communicates, he finds himself drawn to the Paris stages, integrating the collective Audiovenum, next to artists like Francky Brown, La Pieuvre, Ziloub or Mama Lu.
After, he promoted Francky Brown album in France.
Francky Brown (french producer, guitarist and author of two Drum'n’Bass albums) and Dj Monolythe met within Audiovenum in 2001, sharing the same energy and musical orientation.
This common ground led to their collaboration in the creation of Francky Brown’s second album ‘New Slogan’ in which Dj Monolythe laid down scratches.
The promotion of ‘New Slogan’ put Monolythe back on the stage with Francky Brown in an original Drum'n’Bass set, with Francky on guitar and voices and Monolythe on the turntables.
He met then Dj 1.100.C and began to promote Drum’n Bass events in Paris.
Since, Monolythe is resident of « Do You Want More » and « Bang Bang » parties, he’s still mixing on well known stages mainly in Paris and more largely in France and Europe (Barcelona, London, …)
Dj Monolythe developes a Drum’n Bass finding positive influence in Liquid Funk, Drum'n’Reggae culminating in very energetic drum’n bass as Jump up style (but never dark…).
Anyway, musicality and melody are the very points of Monolythe’s sets.
