I'm a New Hampshire native who moved back to town almost three years ago after four years of academia in the equally-cold reaches of upstate New York. Sometimes, I think I overestimated the staggering drawing power of the Granite State, but considering just about anywhere is within driving distance, it's not all that bad.
I heard it said once that you can like the life you live, or you can live the life you like. I prefer to think I'm content with the former, until finances allow a bit more of the latter. I have a job I enjoy, I have a car I love, and my friends give me reasons to travel. On the other hand, I'm eyeballing the housing market, and I'd like to find some people I don't have to travel to see.
I wouldn't go so far as to say I live life in any sort of fast lane...but it's nice to get out now and then, like we did at college. Why should real life be boring? I consider myself low-key, but that doesn't mean I don't like to have fun...it's nice to get out and see something different, even if the only thing that makes it different is that it's not work.
