Roma Kid are existing Isolation artist Michael Tickner, main man in Moth and guitarist/vocalist in 'Heliconia', and David MacPhail, and whose previous band 'Icer' provided Isolation Recordings with its first release. 'Heliconia' drummer Jon Lamont has recently joined the fold.The band's brooding yet jagged electronica was well received by Barcode electronic music portal, was played on the Nick Luscombe Flo-motion show on XFM and is scheduled to feature on an advertising campaign on MTV.Centre and Periphery Roma Kid's debut EP was released on Isolation Recordings (Isolate_005) in 2004.On the six-track CD Roma Kid take crunchy, scratched up programmed beats, chipped and looped guitar sketches and ambient drones, and produce something sounding kind of nervy, kind of dancey. Included are remixes by Akkadian, ex Icer guitarist, and Hink, who was most recently live guitarist with Kelli Ali (Sneaker Pimps). Nick described the EP as "beautiful stuff".A further boost for the band came with the news that Polit Skyala from Centre and Periphery is set to feature as the soundtrack to an ad campaign by the Staying Alive Aids awareness charity which is backed by MTV. The band are currently working on their debut album which is due out on Distant Noise Records in July 2008!!!!
