Joanna first took the stage at age 3, performing “Jesus Loves Me†with the Jahn Family Singers live at the Christian Woman’s Circle. Shortly after this show-stoppper, Joanna decided she wanted to become a rock star. Her parents swiftly enrolled her in classical voice lessons. This training paid off huge when she got a summer job singing country songs at Valleyfair. It was there in the Red Garter Saloon where she once literally broke her leg giving her all.Whether she’s paying tribute to Karen Carpenter, covering Hank Williams in a country bar or having a formal torch singer moment before a crowd of a thousand, her soul-seducing voice, open style and enviable range make any stage hers alone. Having turned hobby into profession, she can afford to buy French fries and still put gas in her car while doing what she loves for a living.You may have heard Joanna’s voice on TV or the radio, as she makes her living telling you to buy stuff. She has been a professional voiceover artists for several years and her warm, smokey-sans-Marlboros-and-whiskey voice has earned her a long and growing client list.As an actor, Joanna was last seen onstage in “Debbie Does Dallas The Musical!†with Fifty Foot Penguin Theater and “EAT! A Karen Carpenter Buffet†as Karen Carpenter with Gaydar Productions.â€As a singer, Joanna is heard and seen every week throughout the Twin Cities. She is currently one of The Dollys, an all-girl trio that performs the hits of Dolly Parton, EmmyLou Harris, Linda Ronstadt and many others. She also sings with Steeling Dan, a thirteen-piece Steely Dan Tribute band. She is a featured performer every year in Christmas In The City, a holiday show with John Trones and Jim Brickman and she is also featured on several of John Trones’ albums.
