About Me

CHARACTERISTICS OF A GOD PLEASER2 Corinthians 5:9 (English Standard Version) 9So whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to(A) please him. 1. He relizes that he cannot please God apart from being a Christian. Romans 8:8-9 (English Standard Version) 8Those who are in the flesh cannot please God. 9You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact(A) the Spirit of God dwells in you.(B) Anyone who does not have(C) the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.2. He studies the scriptures to understand exactly what it takes to please God.Psalm 40:8 (English Standard Version) 8(A) I delight to do your will, O my God; your law is(B) within my heart."3. In everything he does he is conscious of pleasing God. Colossians 3:2 (English Standard Version) 2(A) Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth4. When he pleases people, he does so out of loving motives, not selfish ones.1 Corinthians 13 The Way of Love 1If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2And if I have(A) prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith,(B) so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3(C) If I give away all I have, and(D) if I deliver up my body to be burned,[a] but have not love, I gain nothing.5. He knows that “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”Because the man who loves to please God is not consumed by selfishness or fear, his focus is on what he can give, not on what he can get.6. He considers amending not only his actions, but also his thoughts and motives.Sanctifying the inner man, whom no one but the Lord sees, is the ambition of this God fearing man. . Luke 11:39-40 (English Standard Version) 39And the Lord said to him, (A) "Now you Pharisees cleanse the outside of the cup and of the dish, but inside you are full of(B) greed and wickedness. 40(C) You fools!(D) Did not he who made the outside make the inside also?7. He is concerned about fulfilling not only his public duties but also his private ones. I will(D) walk with(E) integrity of heart within my house; 8. He is more concerned with what God sees in his heart that man sees in his appearance.9. He programs his conscience by the Bible rather than by the culture.10. He does not shy away from necessary conflict or confrontation. Proverbs 28:23 (English Standard Version) 23Whoever(A) rebukes a man will afterward find more favor than(B) he who flatters with his tongue.11. He does not worry or fret when he displeases people if , if so doing he pleases God. ___________________________________________________________

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

This poem was My grandfathers favorite poem. It was read at his funeral. The poem then became one of my dads favorites. It has become one of my favorite poems as well. It is called "House By The Side Of The Road"------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------ ---THERE are hermit souls that live withdrawn In the place of their self-content; There are souls like stars, that dwell apart, In a fellowless firmament; There are pioneer souls that blaze the paths Where highways never ran- But let me live by the side of the road And be a friend to man.Let me live in a house by the side of the road Where the race of men go by- The men who are good and the men who are bad, As good and as bad as I. I would not sit in the scorner's seat Nor hurl the cynic's ban- Let me live in a house by the side of the road And be a friend to man.I see from my house by the side of the road By the side of the highway of life, The men who press with the ardor of hope, The men who are faint with the strife, But I turn not away from their smiles and tears, Both parts of an infinite plan- Let me live in a house by the side of the road And be a friend to man.I know there are brook-gladdened meadows ahead, And mountains of wearisome height; That the road passes on through the long afternoon And stretches away to the night. And still I rejoice when the travelers rejoice And weep with the strangers that moan, Nor live in my house by the side of the road Like a man who dwells alone.Let me live in my house by the side of the road, Where the race of men go by- They are good, they are bad, they are weak, they are strong, Wise, foolish - so am I. Then why should I sit in the scorner's seat, Or hurl the cynic's ban? Let me live in my house by the side of the road And be a friend to man.Sam Walter Foss
