Back in the studio working on new tunes...ABOUT TOM
Tom Clark, the man behind Unsweetened Music, has been playing and writing music on and off since he entered a small New England college in the fall of 1999. The songs started as humble ballads aimed at attaining the love of a specific woman, but after a few verses and choruses, and even more women, the songwriting took off. With a growing arsenal of folk/pop rock songs speaking of love, loss, and desire, Tom met a few other musicians and they decided to form a band. For about 4 years Tom was the lead singer and principal songwriter in the band Looking Glass Hero. A few character changes and the distance caused by post-graduation activities had sent the band into a variety of projects leaving Tom to sit and think about the direction of his music.
With the band on hiatus, Tom found himself in a new world away from the shelter of college and familiarity. The songs that had been written with the band were more or less torturous reflections of what was and what could have been. The thought of retreating back to those ways left a bitter taste. Finally, the pent up pain, angst, and desperation that come with feeling abandoned and alone fueled the motivation to continue writing and recording.
When Tom met up with Producer/Engineer Phil Bond in the summer of 2003, it was immediately a mix of raw emotion and technological intrigue. The rough acoustic play and newfound ambition were a perfect mix with Phil's experimental technique's and ability to mesh recording truths with unknown methods. The table was now set and ready for a steady diet of recording and brainstorming. With many songs written and many more on the way, crowds in coffeehouses and bars across New England have no idea what is about to hit them.
