About Me

I am a transplant from a much bigger city, Boston, MA, but truly feel that one of the better things I have done in my life is move to Charlotte, NC; I have passed up the opportunity to move a few times. I have made a lot of really good friends in Charlotte and that is also part of the reason I love this city, along with the cleanliness and the overall attitude of the people you meet daily. There is definitely something different about “the south” and the impact it has had on me (and I know it has on others) who have come from “the north” with prior stereotypes. Anyway, I live alone on the outskirts of what we call Uptown and that is due to the area having a lot more grass and trees, I can’t live in the concrete jungle. I like to enjoy the natural air as much as possible (both in my house and car), I have many plants in my house, I have two cats and two fish, try to get at least six hours of sleep each night, I try to be patient but can not tolerate ignorance, I am willing to help anyone I can but they have to be willing to help themselves, I have many different types of friends and am not afraid to immerse myself into what they like to do in order for me to learn more about myself.

My Interests

Triathlon takes a lot of my time and I just completed my first 1/2 Ironman in Florida on May 20th, Lake Norman is great in the summer, hiking the mountains of NC year round, traveling to as many places as possible both in and out of the U. S., getting involved with charities and anything to help the environment, taking time to sit back and relax, being around friends whenever I can which is becoming more difficult as they move away, laughing, eating cooked food from the grill, the smell of fresh cut grass, learning new things and not being intimidated by the unknown . There are so many things for us to enjoy in this lifetime, we should all take advantage of what is going on around us; be a part of the activities not just a spectator.

I'd like to meet:

As many people as possible and then decide if I want to meet them again.

Music:

U2, Snow Patrol, Jane's Addiction, Counting Crows, Creed, Beck, Old School Rap where you can understand the lyrics, Lenny Kravitz, Jay Z - Big Pimpin', The Doors, Coldplay, Beastie Boys, Tori Amos, The Killers.

Movies:

There are a lot of movies that come to mind; The Royal Tenenbaums, Shawshank Redemption, The Natural but then you start to flip through other peoples pages and remember the great movies they have in their profile and you almost feel guilty adding them to your profile. There are so many movies in all of our pasts that to just list a few doesn’t seem right.

Television:

There are very few shows that I HAVE to watch but I do enjoy Grey’s Anatomy, Heroes, CSI, Flip this House, Nip/Tuck, Discovery Channel and any baseball game regardless of the teams although I would prefer Boston Red Sox baseball. I like the national news more than local news but feel obligated to know what is going on around me; even if the feature story is a cat being rescued from a tree!!!!! This is not always a bad thing since back in Boston you always heard about assaults, theft or murder.

Books:

Freakonomics by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner.

Heroes:

Anyone willing to do a job that they know will pay them more in satisfaction than in a paycheck and anyone who is willing to put others before themselves.
