Avocations: Occasional freelance writer and photographer; Author of two history books; Lighthouse history lecturer; Historical researcher; Bassist for Juke House.
Hobbies: Reading; Gardening; Motorcycling (Ducati S2R1000 and Honda CBR1000F); Blogging; Collecting musical instruments; Collecting Russian matryoshki (wooden nesting dolls); Collecting antique and contemporary handmade marbles.
Volunteering: Occasional volunteer at several Long Island lighthouses.
Groups to which I belong: American Motorcyclist Association; Patriot Guard Riders; Blues Foundation; American Humanist Association; Lifetime member of the US Lighthouse Society.
Things I've done in the past: US Army helicopter mechanic/doorgunner; Past president of two nonprofit groups and former member of a museum board of directors; Former 1st Vice President of the Long Island Authors Group; Founder of LongIslandLighthouses.com; Former AMA-licensed roadracer (anyone remember the Bridgehampton Race Circuit?); Recipient of the US Lighthouse Society's 2005 President's Award for "outstanding contributions to lighthouse preservation;" Guitarist for Sampawam's Creek; Bassist for Night Train and Triple Seven; Licensed wildlife rehabilitator; SPCA cruelty investigator
Stuff I'm doing now (besides working): Playing bass with Juke House. Getting my first children's book ready to market to publishers (only about three more revisions to go!). Researching the history of the cemeteries of Long Island. Studying.
What I might do in the near future: Write more history books; Get back into photography; Buy more guitars, basses, amps, and motorcycles; Probably do some stuff I don't even know about right now.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Honest, intelligent human beings with a passion for life. People who aren't afraid to stand up for what is right. Ducatisti. Brights. Buddhists. And, of course, people from other space-time dimensions.

Watch the video below to learn more about CH, a disease that affects cats like my buddy Wobbles:

How many motorcycle lines create this sort of passion?
