About Me

Mike Wade has devoted himself to challenging musical boundaries while remaining true to the definition of techno music. Now more than ever, he stands ready to assume a role of techno prominence. Mike's raw production style is distinct and powerful. The music he creates is as exciting and advanced as it is grounded in electronic tradition.Mike was born in Chicago in 1977, and early on was influenced by the city's legendary House music tradition. At the age of twelve he began making mix-tapes using rudimentary double cassette-recorders. By 1991, his love of music led him to purchase what would be the catalyst for an inevitable music career: his first set of turntables.By 1995, Mike's musical focus began to shift from House to Acid and Industrial. His growing love of electronic music engulfed him and he found he could only express this passion through DJing. At first, Mike began playing at small underground house parties, but eventually, as his skills became refined, he found himself playing at Chicago's largest raves. Mike quickly became a fixture on the Chicago rave circuit, playing for crowds of up to 5,000 people. As Mike's taste in music continued to progress and become more refined, his interest quickly turned to the power of early techno music.By 1998, Mike finally realized that music production could only satisfy his growing passion for electronic music. Through blind experimentation and raw self-will, Mike quickly began recording music using a basic home studio. In only months, Mike produced what would become his first record--Guidelines EP. DJ Rush was impressed, and picked up the demo for release on his newfound imprint: Kne'Deep Records. The Guidelines EP became a hit, receiving strong praise and support from Dave Clarke, Chris Liebing,Laurent Garnier, and DJ Hell charting for three months on Carl Cox's 1998 Essential Mix World Tour.At the end of 1998, Mike Wade went on a 3 month European tour headlining with DJ Rush in support of Kne'Deep records. On tour, Mike held his own playing alongside artists like Jeff Mills, DJ Skull and Claude Young. His tight mixing and creative programming electrified dance-floors and left clubbers in awe. Mike was enjoying increasing recognition not only for his production work, but also for his amazing DJ performances. He went on to perform at major club events and festivals all-throughout Europe. The 1998 Kne'Deep tour greatly affected Mikes musical output, bringing out the "dark side" in his DJ sets and production. The Spartan surroundings of East Berlin became a major influence in his creation of a raw and distinct brand of techno he hears in his dreams. After returning to Chicago, Mike continued to produce successful releases for Kne'Deep Records, as well as High Octane Recordings. Looking for an outlet to feature his emerging talent, Mike and label partner, James Snyder, created Archetype Records. With this new imprint, Mike was finally able to fully reveal the distinct facets of his musical abilities. His true talent is made apparent as he progresses through every Archetype Records release. With the creation of Archetype Records, Mike's future as an influential member of the electronic music community has been firmly established.
