Francisco ( Frank ) MonteavaroBorn in Cuba , 1959
As a child Frank watched an old man do a Portrait in oil paint and it made a great impression on him. In 1973,he inmigrated to Miami ,Fla with his inmediate family.
In 1987,he began drawing a few sketches and in 1990,he began Painting on wood,planters ,furniture and some small canvasses, at the time he would give away , sell and trade his work.
Frank's first publicly showed his work at Cool Beans Cafe in North Miami,in 1996. Since then,he has shown his work many times at Tip Freemans Art Gallery in the Upper East Side of Miami.
In 2001, he traveled, to Caracas, Venezuela and met an Artist called Miguel VonDangel. VonDangel took Frank under his wing for a few months and taught,shared and explained about the gift of creating,a calling of some sorts and a vocation for life.
Since his trip to Venezuela and his encounter with Miguel VonDangel, Frank has created his own trademark style,that goes from Abstract to Primitive and Modern,all mixed together to create somethig beautiful and unique. His works are now on Canvas and Wood with oil,enamel,acrylics and mixed media.
Frank is a Self-Taught artist, who is beginning to flourish because he's passionate about never staying the same, always learning,and trying different mediums and technics.
Frank exhibited at The GREAT FLORIDA BANK in Nov 24th,2006. His New Exhibition took place June 29th of 2007 at The Latin Quarter Cultural Center - 1501 S.W. 8th street in Miami, Next, He Exhibited in One-One-One Miami's Unoffficial Birthday Celelebration at The Jose Marti Building in Little Havana, Next it will be Viernes Culturales until September and in October will Participate by Invitation in The Hispanic Heritage Exhibition along side Internacionally known Artists.
