Dead Sheriff Discography:
Dead Sheriff Biography:
- Dead Sheriff started up in 1999.
Lars and Daniel wanted to start a new band. After several years in punk bands, they decided to start a rock band. They asked Morten for the assistance of the guitar. And just a few days later Eigil and Inge joined on the vocals and guitar. Inge's background was playing the guitar for punk bands and metal/hardcore bands. Eigil's background was singing in hardcore bands and sometimes even playing the guitar or bass. He gave that up.. Enough said.
- Morten had allready made a couple of tunes and Eigil started writing the lyrics and we had our first live show in the fall of 1999 at Union Scene.
I remember the poster saying: "SHERIFF". But later we found out about another band with the same name, so we added "DEAD". The inspiration at this moment was fast rock like Zeke, Turbonegro and 70's punk rock. After supporting U.K. Subs, Charlie Harper had this to say about Dead Sheriff: "Dead Sheriff was fucking briliant".
- In February 2000 we had our first release. It was a 4 track live recording and at this moment Dead Sheriff was:
Eigil Moe, Vocals
Morten Paulsen, Lead Guitar
Daniel Stamnes, Bass
Inge Chr. A. Wiig, Guitar
Lars Marius Krantz, Drums
- We had several live shows that year. And in the beginning of 2001 we went to Overhead Studio in Oslo and recorded our first EP. 8 songs was released and the CD was called "Rock Is Real". It was a self released album. 1000 printed and today it's sold out.
Just when this album was releaesed on May 25th. 2001, Morten had already decided to leave the band. He was moving to Florida, USA.. He's back in Norway now and started a new band: Firestorm.
- The summer and fall of 2001 we spent looking for and prictice with our new man on the guitar. Christian Schei joined the band. Chris was earlier playing in several hardcore and metal bands. And at that point he also had another great hard rock band called The Vendettas.
- We went to studio at Victoria in Drammen recording a demo CD. While working hard on a record deal with this demo, we recorded our new album at Overhead Studio.
Later we signed with the American Dionysus Records.
The album "Rock Apocalyptica" was released on June 17th. 2002. Both on CD and LP.
The line-up was now:
Eigil Moe, Vocals
Christian Schei, Lead Guitar
Daniel Stamnes, Bass
Inge Chr. A. Wiig, Guitar
Lars Marius Krantz, Drums
Played some great shows that summer and fall. In the winter we had to let Daniel go. It was a though decision and we wish Daniel all the best in the future with his newly born son.
So then we had to find a new bass player. Jim Johansen from the cold north of Norway joined us. We had already planned the new record. We spent a lot of time in studio recording By All Means. We recorded 16 songs and used 13 on the album. We signed with the Norwegian FaceFront and Voices Music & Entertainment. We had two great release shows, both in Drammen and Oslo in October 2004.
With this line-up:
Eigil Moe, Vocals
Christian Schei, Lead Guitar
Jim Johansen, Bass
Inge Chr. A. Wiig, Guitar
Lars Marius Krantz, Drums
In 2005 we made new material for a new album release. Played several shows with various bass players til Stig Johansen one day showed up and became a member.
Our new album is done and the release will hopefully be in fall 2006.
The line up in 2006:
Eigil Moe, Vocals
Christian Schei, Lead Guitar
Stig Johansen, Bass
Inge Chr. A. Wiig, Guitar
Lars Marius Krantz, Drums
