--------BIOGRAPHY------
1998: Ipsum (from the latin oneself)was born in 1998 in Lausanne (Switzerland, Vaud)under the name of Black Magic. At first very much influenced by extreme metal, a part of the band evolved towards more technical and melodic metal, which caused the first line-up changes.
1999: Ipsum then changed shape for the best with tracks enhanced in lyricism and power. Despite the lack of a full-time bass player, the band performed a couple of live acts that met an ever growing audiences approbation. It thus recorded with its "mark one" line-up its first album "BEHIND THE MASK", made up of seven songs played in a rather melodic black metal style. Three hundred `300` copies were then released and distributed throughout the world by the Portuguese label SOUND RIOT, which caused the band faced with an unexpected success to print 200 more copies. The Brazilian label VAMPIRIA RECORDS dealt with a South American distribution on tape support.
The band take a more professional turn throughout 2001 2001: The band then toured a lot in Switzerland and France, performing on stages such as Geneva, Pratteln, Luzern, Marseille, Monthey, Clermont Ferrand, Paris etc.
Octobre 2001: Ipsum then signed a management deal with the Brazilian company ARCHAES LEGEONES MANAGMENT. The band then toured a lot in Switzerland and France with bands as ANCIENT, MALLEUS MALEFICARUM, BELENOS, CARCARIASS, SETH or ANOREXIA NERVOSA and started to work on new material for the album to come.
November 2002: : Nevertheless, the band started recording "Behind The Mask""s successor soon afterward. This new album, entitled MYSTIC EVILUTION is much more brutal and darker than Ipsum"s first release. Released in April 2003, it is distributed by ADIPOCERE RECORDS throughout Europe.
June 2003: , JEFF from Adipocere Records takes on the bands management. This man already works with NEHEMAH and HATE SUPREMACY, and also runs a radio show called Chapel Of Ghouls in Lyon (France).
November 2005: after some problems, the band split... it's only little time after, that AASGAARD, who was the singer, takes the direction of the group.
2006: Now, Ipsum forget a Melodic Black Metal to play a Doom Black Metal. Atmospheres are more COLD and UNHEALTY. The texts essentially treat about madness, concept of the album (Mørke kamre means "Dark Chambers"), but also about respect of our ancestors... Currently, the titles of the THIRD album MORKE KAMRE are finished, and the band is searching for a label for futur...
