BIOGRAPHY
The Death Metal band BRANDED SKIN is up to mischief the Underground for 5 years now. The Germans offer a Death Metal mix of groove and brutality, which can be compared best with the old school bands of the early 90s. In their beginning days the style of BRANDED SKIN could be assigned to the British camp (BOLT THROWER, BENEDICTION) but meanwhile they have developed an own, self-reliant style. Rolling double bass passages, blastbeats, melodic guitar runs or sawing thrashriffs they pick off the best trademarks from any Death Metal style and combine them. The sound is complemented by extreme vocals with alternating deep growls and scream parts. The result is a powerful and brutal Death Metal machine, which cannot be stopped anymore and casts a spell over and fascinates the audience.
However, this fascination can be seen especially when the band is acting live on stage. They release a raving energy and present an extremely professional stage show. Their straight Death Metal sound is absolutely catchy and their groove immediately puts the audience in motion. And last but not least the audience will be infected by their enthusiasm and their big portion of humour.
Only 2 years after their foundation BRANDED SKIN made quite a splash with their debut. At that time the six recorded songs were highly praised in the press. The name BRANDED SKIN fast became known in the Underground and the band found its first fans. But 2 years later the Germans could go one better by publishing their CD Shadows of Fear. The 9 songs were accepted very well by the press and their fans again. The special highlight on that CD is the co-operation with the Death Metal legend Martin van Drunen, who refined 3 songs with his vocals. He was absent from the scene for many years but his name should be known to everyone, as Death Metal formerly was strongly influenced by him and his bands PESTILENCE and ASPHYX.
Today's line-up consists of the last two founding members Alex Hille and Sven Rahe. Sven Sievering joined the band in the middle of 2004 after leaving the Power Metal band BLACK DESTINY. Furthermore, there are Jens Wendlandt and Alex Schmidt who joined the band at the end of 2004. Besides his activity for BRANDED SKIN, Alex was playing with the Black Metal band Nebelheer till recently. For various reasons the band had to cope with frequent line-up changes in the last 5 years.
But now, in the year 2008 the band decided to cancel all activities.
