The Anacondas

The Anacondas, a spicy surf band from Amsterdam with a taste for ballroom blitz and psychedelic bizarre.The Anacondas started in 2000 when Johnny Torpedo stopped playing raw power punk with his band The Killers. Johnny had enough of noise and distortion and started to gain more interest in reverb and vibrato. He met Jack Stuka, Pete Python and Messerschmitt Marzl and formed The Anacondas, a surf style band with a rock & roll heart.- May 2005 The Anacondas release their second album Snakin all over on Sonic Rendezvous (SRV023). 15 New tracks drenched in reverb with again great support from friends as Renske Feenstra, Emiel de BB and Benjamin Herman from the New Cool Collective. The Anacondas got also excellent help from Jane Wang with the production ofp the first European song completely in mandarin .- Their first official release The Anacondas on Sonic Rendezvous label (SRV004) got excellent reviews. Dutch Pop magazine OOR wrote: I would change all the songs of the leading Dutch pop bands for just one song of The Anacondas and there are nineteen on their debut CD.- The Anacondas made one CD Live in Club Vegas which got an excellent review by surf guru Phil Dirt from Reverb Central from Santa Cruz: This must be a fine band to see live. Rock solid surf based instros with plenty of inventive musicianship and charm. The band is very good. Even the covers are uniquely arranged, especially the Clash's The Guns Of Brixton and the Ventures' The Ninth Wave.- The Anacondas played many venues all over Europe and toured the USA, summer 2003. Together with Alabama's Daikaiju they played 24 gigs in 21 towns and traveled 10.000 miles in 28 days.- Phil Dirt recorded The Anacondas during their USA summer tour.
