The Writing Pad Approach:
A Writing School Should Be Like a Spa
We believe that a comfortable, aesthetic environment is essential for inspiring creativity. You’ll take class in a comfy, modern living room decorated with candles and fresh flowers. Also, we serve gourmet tasting plates and/or desserts at each class to help you get that happy and relaxed buzz that good food produces.
Writing Classes Should Be Fun and Inspiring
A writing class shouldn’t be boring or annihilate your ego! All Writing Pad classes are flavored by the Amherst Writers and Artists (AWA) method in which students participate in fun, spontaneous, free writing exercises (e.g., writing without letting your pen leave the page for timed exercises triggered by a writing prompt).
If a student decides to read what he’s written, the class and instructor only respond with what they like and remember. If a student brings in writing he’s worked on outside of class, he’ll receive balanced feedback.
