About Me

The Chicago Underground Library is a project that aims to create an archive of everything that has been self- and small press-published in Chicago or the Chicago area. Through a searchable online archive and a physical space, it will open new opportunities for research, inspiration, and collaboration among those in and outside of the publishing community. By putting fiction, critical journals, zines, poetry, comics, political pamphlets, art books and everything else out there side by side, CUL hopes to bridge the gaps resultant from stratification along the lines of content, production value, and commercial viability.

Come visit us at The Orientation Center any Tuesday between 7-9pm or Saturday between 1-5pm. 2129 N. Rockwell, Chicago, IL 60647.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

Readers, writers, arithmetickers, publishers, distributors, artists, printers, editors, photographers, poets, zinesters, cartographers, illustrators, fact pushers, fiction purveyors, journalists, journal-keepers, Trapper Keepers (especially the ones with unicorns and stars), politicos, activists, dramastists, translators, comic geeks, characters, chapbookers, perfect-binders, xerox machines, mimeographs, dot matrices, archivers, databasers, librarians, pack rats, closet organizers, anthologizers, music snobs, music slobs, historians, educators, lifelong learners, the easily excitable, coloring books and the people who color them.
Also, other libraries, workspaces, resource centers, and community arts and activism groups for sharing ideas and long walks on the beach. We'd prefer to add people who have some interest in what we do, so that our page can serve as a networking resource.
