THE DIARY

Hi my name is David Covarrubias. This page is dedicated to my first short film project THE DIARY. I am an animatronic effects designer by day but love indie filmmaking and am building up my skills as a director and producer by doing these short film projects. The Diary is my first film endevour. Before THE DIARY the only things I had shot or edited where home videos. I am proud of this film because it is basically my film school. I learned everything from casting to directing, to filming, doing sound design color correcting editing, etc. That is not to say that I did this alone. I got through pre-production pretty much on my own, but for production I assembled a great team of indie pros including a kick ass DP, fx make-up artist, and awesome sound mixer. Post was once again mostly done by me because (1) I needed the experience, and (2) I couldn't afford to pay someone else to do it. I did however have a lot of help from my fellow producer Russ who was responsible for handling the website, festival submissions, etc.The film has been accepted into several film festivals including the FAIF film festival in Hollywood, CA, The Chicago Horror Film Festival, and the Hollywood DV Film Festival where it was the winner in the Best Horror Short category.
