Rick’s passion for music started before the age of 5, when he was able to sing along to whatever he heard.
By this time, he had already started to develop an awareness of the world around him. He knew at a very young age that he was meant to be a singer-songwriter.
After 10 years of piano lessons, at an age of 15, Rick decided to concentrate on developing his own repertoire. This also was an outlet for his blossoming social awareness.
Rick VandeKleijn can best be described as a member of the new generation of singer-songwriters. His music has a fresh, contemporary approach. His music is pop, with influences from the 60’s and 70's.
